Just back from a few days of vacation. Shot 88, 88, and 89. When you're a 15-hdcp, you look for bright spots wherever you can find them, so: I think this is the first time I've broken 90 on 3 consecutive days while carrying my clubs. So I guess I'm satisfied.
The big win, however, was my 2-up triumph over my wife in our annual match play event. Due to some inexplicably poor course management, I was 1 down at the turn. But I squared the match with a birdie at the 432-inch 10th hole, and took a 1-up lead when she doubled the par-2 11th. When she disastrously tripled the 16th, I was dormie, but my bogey at the 17th set up the drama on the 18th green. When I missed my putt to seal the deal, she missed hers to square it. Then she missed the next one, too (possibly distracted by the nearby go-carts). A valiant effort, but she's just not tournament-tough, yet. Lucky for me!
today wasnt terribly flash - dropped 6 shots from #7->#10
to finish 5 over
on a bright note i did find some consistancy with the driver after some patchy form of late
Correct. The scorecard gives the "inch-age" for each hole. I was proud of us: we each birdied the monstrous 672-inch 13th. But the hole plays downhill, so it's easy to pick up distance on the tee shot. Hardest fairways I've ever seen, too.
crikey dick - 18.6 yards
average diameter of the greens on my home course is about that
yesterday on the 18th of a different course i found my first putt no less than 80feet
greens had just been cored and sanded
smashed the ball and hoped , 12 foot short
sunk the 2nd putt tho to halve the round with #1 in my home club
i must practice long putts !
carried your clubs aye - hahahaha precious
Shot an 86 on friday.....before the change over of handicap....dropped from a 19.0 to a 17.7, which equated to a 2 shot drop at my home course, and promptly went out today and shot a 95
82 for me on saturday, I was rather pleased by the end given a host of silly things..... I started with 2 double and on 4 occasions took 4 to get down from within 20 yards! I really do hate it when I miss greens!
I shot a mediocre/poor front nine of 46. Had a couple of blow-up holes, but mixed in enough pars to keep it in the bogey-golf range.
On the back-nine, shot a 39. My best nine hole score is 38, so I played pretty good on the back. 3-over on the two par 5's, and par on everything else. On the back, I only hit three greens in reg.
I played my first ever game of golf on an 18 hole course yesterday.
My mate reckons I got about 123, but I wasn't worried about my score. Really enjoyed it though, and am definately going to start going to the 18 hole course more often now that I know I can cope with it reasonably well. :)
I shot 91 - 49/42 on a course that I play quite often. 2-5 ate me up, as always... 2 long par 4's & 2 par 5's... all tight, water & OB. They were aerorating(or however it's spelled) the greens on the back & I hit 5 of them in reg. , all within 25 feet. I 3-putted 4 of them. Putting was quite challenging to say the least, but the guy only charged us $11 to ride 18. I was really hitting it pure on the back so all things considered a very enjoyable day.

In my neck of the woods, they rarely tell you when they're aerating and I've never gotten a break on the greens fees. If you don't mind me asking...what course were you playing?
I enjoy the game far too much to ever "suffer" on a golf course. As for aeration, I enjoy the game far too much to pay to play in such conditions. This time of year I always call ahead (to any course I plan to play) to make sure that haven't aerated in the past week. I learned from experience that the anticipation of playing is quickly ruined when the greens are unputtable.
Just who is this "WE" bunch you mentioned? I thought we were
Don't make me conjure a pox on your Cards!

Willow Metropark. They had a sign posted about the aeration. It was just on the back side and there were 2 or 3 that they hadn't done yet. They have a deal on Fridays... 2 for 1 or something. They usually charge us $18.50 per. The guy knows us and charged us $32 for the 3 of us. He told us about the outing in front of us after we'd paid. I think between the outing & the aeration he decided to cut us a break. I wasn't asking questions. It took us nearly 5 hours, but the company was good, I was striping it on the back and I broke even($0.50 per hole just for needling purposes).
I was talking about my fellow brethren in the golf course maintenance industry, haha. I really have no clue why the courses don't let the golfers know ahead of time when aeration happens. At my course it's because our former supt./current GM is inept
Please don't mess with my Cards!! I've had enough sports problems already with FSU and the Cowboys looking like area high school teams in their losses.
Not today but friday gone i shot 87 at my local course, out in 44 and back in 43. Ok tee to green (within 20 yards anyway), good chipping but my mind went blank when putting, good 10 footer on 18th for par but that was it, more 3 putts than i care to remember. 36 pts off 16 so steady away i suppose.
