I gotta get that lesson!

OK, all is forgiven and there will be no pox on your Cards! In return, I would expect you to have my back on the Ryder Cup thread.

Deal?

I won't divulge my score, but I looked like a 12 year-old left-handed girl trying to swing from the right side today. That's all.

9 over at Sterling Hills in Camarillo, CA. with an eagle and two birdies. The eagle burned the edge and ended up one foot from the hole (never had a double eagle, and still don't)! I was in seven bunkers and didn't get up and down once! That *.

Hi all,

Today a nasty 96 (51 on the front 9...Dohhh) on my home course, nothing was really working well...did manage a 2 to help out the pro-shop account though.

Cheers,
Jim

I played good today, but the course i played had terrible greens. I played in a school tournament, i was the second youngest guy there and i came 4th so i was happy. But the greens were rock hard and some pins were in stupid posotions. The greens were just rock hard, and were not true to their break at all and super fast. Everyone here i am sure has played those courses with lightning fast greens, but they are still receptive and will take long irons appraoch shots and stuff. This courses greens were rock hard, i was getting 20 feet of roll off of my Pitching wedge on a full shot which is not normal and they would get big bounces. Other than that the course was great.

We call that, "the rub of the green." It's always a challenge when you find conditions a bit different than you're used to. I prefer faster greens and usually faster greens means harder, firmer greens. That , in turn, means I have to adjust my approach shots accordingly. If that means I can't shoot at flags and get it close, I change my tactics and try to run the ball on approaches, like you frequently see at the British Open.

Another example of this is this year's US Open at Shinnecock Hills. The best players found a way to get the ball into the hole when green conditions wouldn't let them shoot at flags. Unless you play exclusively at ultra manicured private courses, or on the PGA Tour, you will always encounter changing conditions. Some good, some not so good.

Remember....the conditions are the same for everyone, so the better (and faster) you adapt to those changing conditions, the better player you will become, and the more success you will have. ( Did that sound like Yoda? )

Congratulations on your fine finish and keep up the good work. Both on the course and in here!

I am used to playing fast greens, my courses greens were only a tad slower than these, but they are much more receptive at my home course, you know what i mean? Like the greens can be super fast but when they are in good condition they will take a ball from any where, i was chipping horrible cause i was scared of landing it long cause then i would end up 20 feet by so i would try and land short and roll up and then end up with dumb bounces. These greens were brown in most places and they didn't roll true at all cayse theyb wre so bumpy. It is hard to explain cause i have never really putted on this bad of greens before.

Played a quick (1 hour) nine today. It felt the whole time like I was swinging terribly. Finally on the last hole it came to me. I concentrated on keeping my arms synchronized to the rest of my body on the backswing and voila!! Striped the drive down the middle, wedge to the middle of the green, 2 putts for par. Finished with a 42. Why does it always have to come on the last hole though, haha?

One under for nine yesterday, with 3 birdies. I was happy with that though. I made a little game for myself, telling myself I had to birdie the last two holes to win the championship outright, and I did.YAY!

Shot a 129...

For 27 holes. Went out to the place I played a few weeks ago, $25 to ride 18 if you start between 1 and 3pm. Since they had leagues going off the back, the starter told me to play 9, if they were still sending the leagues off, to play the front 9 again, then come back and play the back, if I wanted to. Short course, but I shot a +5 40 on the first nine, played the front again from the blacks and shot 43 (with too many penalties!), then shot a double and triple filled back for a 46. *JUST* missing an eagle putt on 18, though.

This is where my golf game kills me. I'm good enough to play that well, but horribly inconsistent enough to make it add up well.

Shot a 90 yesterday on a par 72 - 124/71.3....35 putts & 3 penalty strokes  I was on or around the green all day & got up & down once. Couldn't buy a putt. My chipping is still improving. I'm getting it inside 10' consistently, but rarely closer than 6' and the way I was putting that wasn't close enough. Hit it good though and it was an absolutely glorious day.
