I shot an 82 at Pinehurst today, 44-38. OK, it was at a golf simulator, but it was fun anyway.
Anyway, the courses are opening up here and I expect to get out by Friday!!
Weekly twilight. Drove in the water on #1. Very wet course (skipped on #9 fairway hehe). Nice afternoon, though...lots of deer around...great temperature...green course. :)
I shot a 44 on 9 today. The round started with a double bogey after putting it in the water. Grrrr!! I also missed 2 easy birdie puts and 2 par puts. The swing felt rusty as it was my first time out this year. I am heading out to play 18 tommorow.
Shot an 81 today. Two swings crippled my chances at a really solid round...on #6 I tried to steer one into the fairway since the hole was playing dead downwind, and ended up hitting a right to lefter that flew into the trees OB left. Made a 7 there. Earlier, I hit a really poor 5 wood on #3 tee that left me in a bad spot to make a good score and it cost me a double. Other than that, it was an OK round. I finally felt comfortable over the putter for the first time this season, even though I didn't make a lot of putts. Playing again Friday, so hopefully I can be a little more in control of the ball.
Played my home course with my little brother this morning. First off at the course and about 3 holes in it started to pour. At one point I think I saw an Ark. Started out with back to back triple bogeys, then went on to par 4 of the next 5 holes. Went 44/44 for an 88. My brother has what could arguably be the ugliest swing in golf, but he hits it a mile. His left foot comes completely off the ground in his backswing and is often facing the wrong way when his swing is done. If he was to take lessons he could be an incredible golfer, but that wouldn't be as entertaining for me.

This was my brothers first round of the year, and I would guess he was over 100. He probably had 5 or 6 pars, with 5 or 6 snowmen. He also had a 2 to 3 foot divot fly about 15 feet.
Shot an 89 Thursday. First time out up here in MN, just great to be back! Had some issues with the short game, which is to be expected after the long layoff, including a couple poor bunker shots and many putts left too short (31 putts).
On the positive side, I had two birdies and played the last 7 holes 2 over. Usually my later holes are worse as I tire, maybe the off-season workouts helped. I was much more confident as the round went on, and was driving the ball 20-30 yards longer than last year. I think with a little more play, I'll be on my way to the single digit handicap which is my goal this year.
Played 3 times this week already! Got to play in Birmingham, AL at two of the three Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail Courses. Played Ross Bridge Sunday, where the Champions Tour Regions Classic will be next month (beautiful!), shot 89 (very good for me!). Hit all 4 par 3 greens and 3 putted each of them (greens were huge!), and hit 10 fairways, so obviously my iron play left something to be desired. Played Oxmoor Valley Ridge course Monday and shot 93, then came home and played my home course and shot 94, but with oodles of penalty strokes.
I've always played better at better courses, but the difference in my home course (lots of OB and water) and these resort courses is tremendous. If I played those courses normally, I'd probably drop 4 strokes from my handicap immediately.
My first round with my new clubs today and I shot a 99. That is only my second time breaking 100, but it should have been so much better. 46 on the front nine, but on the back I couldn't make a 4 foot putt to save my life. I 3-putted 5 times ! Maybe because I didn't wear socks and that was stupid. By the end of the round I barely walk because the blisters were so bad. Lesson learned.
I shot the best round of my life from the tips. 93, with 10 FiR's, 3 GiR's and only 33 putts. Driver felt good (got the G2) and i almost birdied a few. Iron play couldve been better and the putting couldve been a lot better. Scrambling wasnt all that good today. My long game, 7 wood mainly, was incredible and on the first hole i hit the thing like 200 yards. Only one 3 putt and 4 1 putts.
