Played 18 with three young Bombers and really enjoyed the round. Played off back tees and never outdrove them, but I hit all but one fairway. Two of them had businesses and their cell phones went off now and then but no biggie. Putter kept me close, but 'NO cigar", as I was high man at 78. The guy with me shot Par with a 72 and the others were close at 74 and 75.
Hope to get invited again sometime. More fun than Sr tees
They must have been really good or it was an easy course or both. It is unusual to have that many good golfers in one group.

They were pretty fine ballstrikers. The wind got up some on the back nine or could have been lowerscores, perhaps. Course is 6570yds and many tall pines .
Not real tough but not easy. Rates/slope 71/124
135. Gulp.
Actually a very satisfying outing as I had a run of 6 decent holes: 4 (par 3) - 6(4) - 5(4) - 6(4) - 4(3) - 6(4). Too many 8's, 9's and even 10's still. I'm pretty happy with it and feel I'm making progress.
My playing partner Aussie Dave managed to clobber one of the party in front with an unfeasibly long 5 wood (they were on the path to the next tee).
A disappointing 47/48 95 in the rain at Overlook in Hollis NH. Trying out my new driver, I was wild at times off the tee at times and I was the a sand man all day. I think was in a bunker on more than half the holes, sometimes fairway and greenside on the same hole. If nothing else I got some good practice hitting out of wet sand - my best shot was a 200+ yard 3 iron out of a FW bunker on a par 5 that allowed me to save par. I managed to par 6-7 holes but threw up some big numbers (doubles and triples) in between. My best stat of the day was being only 1 over for the 4 par 3s, 3 pars and a bogey - out of a bunker.
I played in a men's league tournament at Valley View today. It was an individual gross/net tournament (first stroke play tournament this year).
I set what is probably a personal best for hitting greens in regulation at Valley View today at 13 greens, but I had 36 putts. I hit 11 out of 14 fairways, but the driving was good and bad.
Normally, when you hit as many as 13 greens in regulation and have only 1.2 putts on average when you do miss the greens you are in for a low score, but I barely broke 80 with the 79. Gotta make the putts...
I came in second place in the First Flight (9-x) and also won a skin on #4. Second place paid $100 and the skin paid $13.50 (pro shop credit). I hit a 6 iron a little low and left on #4, but ended up about 20 feet from the flag on the fringe and I made it...fell right in the middle.
I like the statistics in this round, but I need to make more putts and not have any 3 putts. I even had a 4 putt on #18 today, but it didn't hurt my winnings.
It was a great showing for me until I started putting on #18 hehe. I was "managing" the course and my game today. I realised my limitations with the swing I had going on and played each shot keeping in mind how I expected to hit the ball. So, I played conservatively every now and then it the shots worked out better than expected sometimes. I just lost my touch putting starting on #9...three-putted #9, #10, and four putted #18 by missing a putt from about 6 inches hehe (otherwise known as a gimmie).
Wow, a four putt. You should have blown up your putter and bought a new one. Wow im astonished. Not many players take that many strokes on a green. Nothing against you of course...
NOTE TO FOR: Clear some of your PMs. The box is full and when i tried to send one it didnt go.
I just emptied my PM box. Most people would take that last putt as a gimmie whether they made it or not hehe. Plenty of people four putt...they just don't count it! ... no need for an eraser, even
Its never good to think about your score before you make the last putt though is it? Almost every amatuer will think about their score before the 18th and say, i need to _____ this hole to score _____...
