I had an even par 72 today (3 birdies, 3 bogies), playing my home course from the tips (6900 yards). This is my best play since 2004, having had back and shoulder surgery early last year. Not bad for someone who's been collecting social security for years.
shot a 76 at Scovill Golf Club in Decatur, IL. par 71, Championship tees 5929 (short, hilly course) rating 67.8, slope 119. hit 10 out of 13 fairways. hit 9 GIR. 32 putts. didn't play too bad, too many putts though. changed my swing quite a bit here lately and it's finally getting to where i want it.

Mr Bogey made a change to his swing and is hitting the ball better than I have seen him hit it in a couple years. Watch out for some low scores from Mr Bogey when his putter comes around.

I had my best showing in the weekly men's league 9 hole tournament today...38. I also shot a 38 in a 18 hole tournament there last Saturday. Consistent, anyway hehe.
The 38 score is also for a GR 9 hole virtual league match against keith. We have been putting our men's league 9 hole tournament scores against each other.
Its never good to think about your score before you make the last putt though is it? Almost every amatuer will think about their score before the 18th and say, i need to _____ this hole to score _____...
I wasn't thinking about my total score but the possibility of being on the last hole of our 9 hole course for 2 I took a 60" wedge which landed just short of the green, meaning I was now in the trap. On the other hand with the green sloping away at the back had I taken the SW out of the bag I did know I was risking overshooting or running through the green if the ball didn't check up
As for the round yesterday, I think if I hadn't completely mucked up the first hole by duffing my first shot on such a short & easy hole, albeit with water running down one side & before the green. I might have come off with a 34 or 35 instead of 37 on the 9holes. Instead that duffed shot left me between clubs 60 - SW. I again should have taken the SW. Meaning that easy birdie pr parr hole was a double bogey.
As I say a round of 37 which could have & should have been 34 or better on the parr 30 9 hole.
Ironically I duffed my next tee shot, but was able to get on the green with a nicely judged 8 iron, to be 4 yards long & left hand side of the narrow green, to come off that quite hard uphill parr 3 with an almost respectable bogey
Next was the parr 4 where its best to be down the left hand side of the fairway, aimed left with my driver & of course the ball drifted left, but was probably one of the best drives I've ever had on that hole meaning I was not far short of the green in length of drive. a nice easy 60" got me onto the green for a birdie chance which I narrowly missed out on.
Next Parr 4 the drive was lovely & straight but went way too high & the ball died too soon, meaning a short iron shot into the green which I cut across to end up perfect distance but left of the pin in deep rough with little of the long green to work with. Chip shot got me on the green but could have been far better.
Next was a Parr 3, 7 iron for me which I caught way too well, showing I'm on the verge of an iron distance improvement jump shortly. The ball hit the back of the 136 green & didn't have enough room to check up. meaning another chip in, but this time a nicely judged putter style chip left me an easy putt to save parr.
Very short parr 3. 91 yards & should have been easy birdie chance for the round, which I thinned & ,meaning a 64" lob over trees onto the green from the other side of the green. Narrowly missed the parr putt, giving yet another bogey for the round
7th hole over water, nice 4 iron shot which I've gotten on the green before now, even though its not the easiest of greens to stay on even if youm get the ball to hit it. Distance was spot on but this time went straight right of the pin. meaning a measured chip in. Not an easy parr putt on the undulating green. Yep, another bogey.
8th hole. 6 iron. Yes, green in regulation, but narrowly missing my birdie chance. Well at least I came off with parr.
Long parr 4 for this course on the 9th "The Somme" protected by a deep range of bunkers protecting the raised sloping green. Safety is to be left on drive & long on second shot if not able to guarentee hitting or staying on the green. I went straight as an arrow with tee shot right down the middle, ball landed right on the fairway before the range of bunkers & bounced left into rough on the rought. Chose wrong club, tried to hit the green in two, meaning came up short with the prospect of a bunker shot. Managed to get onto the green for 3 instead of 2. But for that hole its a good result. Unfortunatly just missed the parr putt & leaving what in reality is a respectable bogey on that hole.
Oddly it was generally my ironwork which was at times letting me down & my Driver which normally is my weakness which seemed to be working reasonably well. Putting wasn't too bad, but still could have been a little better, more in minor aim judgement than tough or distance.
Played Palmetto course at Myrtle Beach and shot an 88 (46/42). 4 FiR, 5 GiR, and 36 putts. My game was all over the place, I could not put a string of shots together to save my life. I think part of it had to do with the course being over-booked and the round taking over 5 hours.

Fantastic! I just caught this thread and maybe if I keep on working on my game, I will someday shoot my age. Bet you have already. Great round.
Weekly twilight men's league on the front nine. 9 hole GR virtual league match against keith. Played pretty well all day and scored my lowest twilight round so far this season with the 38. Only hit 1 fairway on the front nine, but recovered pretty well each time. Hit most fairways on the back nine.
I tied for 1st in the First flight (9-x). $37.50 in fake pro shop money from $9...not too shabby. I move back and forth between the Champ flight and First flight...Champ flight here I come again hehe.
I shot a 97 last Saturday. +30 (par 67). 2 GIR and 1 FIR. Wow...I did start a new system to track my round. I think the previous one was too much. It had which club I used and how many times I used it. Now I just have a list of 6 rounds at my home course with boxes around each hole that I doubled (or worse). It has my total strokes, putts, firs, girs, and penalties. At the bottom, it lists my average (for the 6 rounds) for each hole (total strokes only). I plan to remove the worst score with each new round. BTW, 97 is apparently below my 105 average there. Sheesh, have I got some work to do!
86 yesterday. Happy to say the numbers are becoming more consistent, and consistently coming down. In recent months, I've still had the occasional blowup hole, but not the blowup round. Understanding the swing better so that even when I don't hit the ball well, I beat it around, keep it in play (sometimes) and make a number I can live with (no double pars!). Only one three putt, 2 birds, 5 pars. Couple of giveaway holes really cost me, and of course the 4 penalty strokes I average per round, at least at this course, kept me from a career low 82. But overall, I was really happy. Didn't always hit it great, but scoring is the name of the game sometimes...
Shot an 82, first round this spring. Highlight and lowlight of the round were 4 birdies, 1 triple bogie, 2 doubles, and mixed in with the usual pars and bogies. Overall, very happy!
