Eric,
Sounds like a tough course... Find a par 3 or Executive Course to help build your confidence.
Just the opposite. It's a par 67 (only 1 par 5) and easy - it's a muni. The most inconsistent part is that my irons are starting to fly like I've been trying to get them to(swing change is kicking in), except I was still aiming where I used to. I'm developing a draw, mainly because my swing was always the out-to-in slice. I'd always aim away from the slice and usually still manage to lose some balls. Now I'm aiming away from the slice and hitting a draw! Yup, time to aim the other way.
On the last hole I put my drive 100 yards away from the green with a slightly hooking drive, and for the next shot, I needed to fade/slice over some trees. I opened the clubface and still managed to hit the ball straight. Woops! Sorry Mr. Guy trying to hit balls on the range. Just kidding, the fence next to him kept my ball in play.
But thanks HackPro, I will take your advice and try to hit some GIRs at a this par 3 course down the street or an executive course a little further away. Must gain confidence.
Played the 9 hole parr 30 course this morning & shot a 44. Hardly my best & then went over to the craythorne, & shot a 96. a big improvement on the last time I played there. But know I can do better.
shot a 73 today on all 18.. with par 72.. my best so far ever.. first round with my new equipment too.. hit my blades really solid.. the sasquatch i killed down the fairways, missed some birdies but really pleased overall
played 9 today at Redtail Run GC in Decatur, IL. new course only the 2nd time i've played it (been open since Saturday). shot a 40 from the championship tees (3664yds.). hit the driver great, hit 7/7 fairways measured my drives off my Skycaddie and they ranged from 240-290, on the 2nd hole, 604yd. par 5, i hit a drive down the middle to the dogleg 260yds. then a 3w with a TON of run and ended up 15yds. short, skycaddie measured that 3w at 288yds. never hit one better in my life. iron play was decent, not great, but i can live with it.
75 at almansor in alhambra ,Ca par 70 course. Not a very long course , but there are some tight fairways with dog leg lefts, and greens almost completely surrounded by
bunkers. shot a 36 front nine par 35 then went down hill. I think my new heavy mizuno golf bag wore me out. its almost twice the weight of my old taylite.
Weekly men's league twilight. Virtual GR league match against keith and HOG league match against mediaguru. Magnificent golf weather...absolutely perfect temperature. Twilight was on the back nine this week. Played pretty poorly, but hit a few good shots. Hit the range a little first and started to hit the hybrid a lot better...hit on the upswing.
I entered each shot this time...it was only a 9 hole round and I guess I wanted to be reminded of how I shot this very mediocre 42. If nothing else, I'll have a reminder to stop aiming at the tree off #17 tee!

Erik,
The constant turning to avoid the slice, can contribute to it. Make sure you are square to the target, then make adjustments. You would be better to close the stance to fight a slice.
Well , i was only able to get 9 hole in last night , but it was the best nine holes i have put up to date , hit a 37 on our local 35 par course , the callaway x-tours are starting to warm up for me , god i love these clubs ..and since i switched back to a short putter vs. my belly putter i have been able to knock off four to five strokes a round and i also have to give the spin mill 56 and 60 there due , its much eiser to hit putts from 6 ft. vs. 15 ft. ...
