94 on Tuesday, 93 on Wednesday. Same course, same flags, same number of penalty strokes (8!) both days. This is basically my home course, only a few blocks from my apartment, so I go for convenience, but it eats me up with penalty strokes. Put it like this - the fairways are so tight between houses, OB is played as a hazard, not OB (stroke and distance). There are several holes where, if you miss the fairway by 10 feet, you are OB. As my penalty strokes indicate, I often miss by more than 10 feet...
Got in 10 holes today before I was almost struck by lightning :-/
Shot a 40 on the front 9. 3 FiR, 2 GiR, and 13 putts. I was suprised w/ how good I was playing considering the lack of playing lately. I really wish I could have finished.
My best yet...a 92 on a par 67. The good news is that I'm really upset by how I played about half of the holes. I shot 39 + 53 = 92. See how lopsided it is? And no, I didn't add up my scores until the very end. 5 FIR's, 5 GIR's and 35 putts. Looking at how I was on track to break 90 and 80 in the same round - that's why I'm a bit disappointed.
Valley View Amateur. Horrible cold and rain all day weather! It was 40 degrees colder than yesterday. Very wet especially during the last 9 hole (front). Hit some good shots considering the conditions, but still couldn't make any short putts. I missed every short putt...only made 2 putts all day.
Shot a 76 today with 2 bogeys, a triple and a birdie. Couldn't make a put if the holes were the size of washtubs. Struck the ball pretty well though. Simp
It was all or nothing today, I shot a 92 with 3 triples thanks to some penalty strokes. 32 putts, no three putts, 5 pars, 2 over on the 4 par 3s (and those were penalty strokes). I only hit 3 fairways and 3 GIR all day, so I did some good scrambling - no sand.

i've reached my 1st goal in golf: be a decent "social golfer" - by my defination.
last two rounds I scored 102 and 109, on my home course (68.3/120; 5823 yards, Par 70)...getting close to breaking 100...scoring by counting every stroke (absolutely no mulligans, no "foot wedges" and i write down every score, even a "11")
can't wait to buy new set of forged CB irons set.
since i sold my 670s, i've been playing with 1967 AMF Voit blades: unforgiving, unwieldy, and harsh feeling...but gets the job done with a good swing.
my favorate club is the Titleist 975F 20.5* wood in 41" DGR300...good for 160 (3/4 swing) to 220 yards off the deck, at least 3 of 5 swings.
if I can stop 3 (sometimes 4) putting too often and get steady with pitches, and stay in bound with all my drives, i'd be well into under 100.
that's all I ask of my golf:...cosistantly score in the 90s from the middle Tees.
Played for the first time in about 7 weeks day before yesterday. The last time I played was simply awful - around 112 I think. Driver was everywhere, putting worse, the few times I was in the fairway I hit it fat, etc.
Anyway, didn't know what to expect with this recent round. Had read some things in Golf magazine about tee height, etc. and decided to try them. Also bought some Dunlop LoCo balls. Well, I was hitting the driver straighter than ever, even able to put a little draw or fade when needed. It was my first time on the course, so I was relying on my partner's knowledge on some holes, which cost me a few strokes. He is used to hitting drives 200-220 yds, and 230 is just an enormous drive for him. So he forgot to tell me on a few holes that if I hit it where he did, but 60 yards further, I'd be in the hidden pond, etc. Only had one hole where I really lost it, a par 4 where I made a 9 due to lost balls and a sculled chip. Anyway, shot a 99 (53 - 46) on an unfamiliar course, and if I played it again I could easily shoot low 90s, maybe break into 80s.
I'll be playing in a Memorial Day scramble up near Orlando tomorrow with my best friend and 2 guys I don't know. Hopefully my drives will still be as nice as they were Friday, and the rest of the group has the other skills we need!
Today was...ummm....interesting. I felt like a beginner. I topped everything and when i did make good contact it would be a terrible hook. I didn't even deserve to be on the course. I left after 3 holes. I think I was +11 after 3.
A friend and I went out this morning to get in 18 holes before the usual Memorial Day gatherings. The round started with a bang when I made my first-ever eagle on the first hole.
My home course has 12 holes (expanding to 18 at the end of this June). The first time around we decided to play the "Hillside 9," which is 4-12. Hole #4 is a 433 yd par 5, with about 240 yards of carry needed to clear a creek. I hit a nice drive, which left me hitting 2 from just outside the 150 yd marker. I stuck an 8 iron on the front of the green, and holed about a 30 ft. putt for eagle. The coolest thing about the putt was that since we went out early, there was still dew on the green, and my ball left a track all the way to the hole.
I ended up with a 44 for the front 9. The second time around, we decided to play the "Original 9," which is 1-7, then 11 & 12. I shot a 49 on the back 9, for a 93. My two goals for this summer were to break 50 for 9, and 100 for 18. Now that I know that I'm capable of doing it, I'll focus on consistent shot-making. I have a score to beat!
Overall, I was pretty happy with my play today. I was driving well, sticking approach shots, and only had a few duffed shots. My putting is starting to come around again too, after a slow start, with only 1 3-putt for the day.
