shot an 88 - 42/46, playing alone Friday on a 70.4/123. 4 penalty stokes(all of the "just barely" variety) & 36 putts(yikes). Nothing over double & no birds. Ball striking & chipping improving(I was getting it up around 5-6 feet all day... sunk 1  ). Playing alone was actually very relaxing for awhile. It got old after the 1st 12 or so, though. All things considered, a good round for me.
Only played nine holes, and I shot a 43. I was putting bad, and my short wedges were just horrible. I'd hit a great drive, and then ***** up my next shot because I couldn't get my wedges to do what I wanted. And then, because I left my approach so long, I'd two or three putt. Oh well.
89 - 48/41, 1 penalty/33 putts on a 71.2/122 yesterday in a steady drizzle... alone(go figure). It's $13 to walk 18 after 1:00 for the rest of the season @ Huron Meadows for any S/E Mich folks(LG, GG) interested. It's in very good shape & the greens were aerated weeks ago. I tried the Lee Trevino miss-em-quick method for putting on the back & it seemed to help. The round was notable only for giving me a new closest-to-an-eagle story. On the 18th, 507 yard dogleg left, cutting the corner protected by a few trees & traps right about where my driver maxes out. I was having a good driving day & figured why not, gave it a little extra & amazingly, busted one exactly where I was aiming. I found it at the far edge of the corner trap. Don't know how it got there, wasn't plugged, no ball mark, must have rolled back in, but sitting up. Fortunately no lip and I picked a 7-wood clean to pin high 20 yards right of the green, trap in between. My 8-iron chip landed on the fringe & was tracking all the way but wound up stopping < 1 inch BEHIND THE HOLE !?! The tap-in bird to break 90 was nice but...
