Just a thought Bigvivec. Go out, play a round, and write down the scores on every hole. Total nothing until you're through, and forget about everything but enjoying the day golfing. Forget the score 'til it's over.
I never keep score...lucky enough to play a course with caddies...they keep the card and let me know after it is all over...wish it were that easy...went out today and shot an ugly 96...my swing feels broken although I will get a good strike in about once every other hole...the rest is a mystery to me, and the more I shoot poorly, the bigger the downward spiral grows... I really am going to take some time off this time as some of the magic has disappeared from the game presently...it is not that I am all about scoring, but right now I really don't have an idea where the ball is going to go when I swing and that isn't a good time...
Played my first round of the year, and second real round since October (bad weather, injury, sick, etc). Played a par 62 executive course. Took an 84; 33 putts didn't help. Bogey golf with a couple of blow-up holes; can't complain after a solid month without even hitting a ball.
Played first round of the year, and first since early Dec. Shot a 92. Found a gift that Santa left, and I didn't know about, I HIT A DRAW ALL DAY! I have been a bad slicer all of my life, but for some reason hit a nice, tight draw all day. I really messed up my head on some of the tight greens, but I can get used to it. Putted and chipped like I haven't played in a month or two.
Today Pistol had his retired military golf association monthly event, so we didn't get to play our match. They play on the SENIOR TEES, which I have never played tho I am 53. I played a small game with 2 threesomes, and my golf game was together for most of the round. I was 3 under thru 13 holes (and had missed a 3 footer for birdie). Then I hit into a trap not 25 feet from the hole - the trap had no sand - my wedge bounced off the hardpan clay base and caused a bladed shot across the green - bogey. Then on the next to last hole I tried to cut in my approach around a tree and double crossed the swing and hit it OB left - the only OB on the stinking course. I came within a few inches of pitching in my bogey, but that double put me back to even. So I had 34-38 = 72. If you asked me before I played if I would be happy with a par round I would've said %#$@, yea. And if I had been 3 over and birdied my way back to 72 I would've been smiling. Somehow when you give it up at the end the satisfaction of a decent day isn't quite the same.
I shot a very ugly 95 at a new Gary Player signature course that my dad got free golf to by attending a tour of the course. It was very strange, the course was nice but it felt very unfinished. The holes weren't marked, cheap signs, etc. I'm not so sure that it and the area around it will take off like they suspect.
Going to be another couple months before I get to play. Doing some working out and stretching exercises to pass the time. :)
I feel your pain...... Here at Augusta, GA, it has been so warm (78 today)that our fairways and greens, which were brown and dormant (they dye the greens) are greening back up as the grass is growing IN JANUARY - I don't remember the Bermuda grass ever greening in January. Forsythia bushes and rhododendrons are being fooled into early blooms. Can the azaleas and dogwoods be far behind? I know we will have more cold weather, but our foliage is about 6 weeks ahead of normal...
Played my best round of the new year yesterday with a 5 under 67. I have been hitting the ball well for the last couple of weeks but the putter was never cooperating. I hit 14 greens and had 28 putts, with one chip in. Had one bogey on the 17th hole that prevented my perfect round.
