Got in some "too early" in the season golf today.

I called around and found one course that had 9 holes open for walkers.

It was rusty golf in poor conditions, but it was golf.

My scorecard

My first round will be at 1:00 today. It will be my first in 5 years, so the expectations are pretty much nil.

But after my 11:00 lesson with the club pro, who knows?

I'll post the results here later today ... or maybe I won't.

Pathetic scores for me today. I only hit one green and it is the shortest par 5.

Here is my scorecard. We played a "guess my scores" game today.

People can "watch" while I'm playing because I'm using mobile software that I wrote.

Well gang, it wasn't that bad with a 103. In fact, I am ecstatic with the way I drove the ball off the tee today and I was also very pleased with my putting! I managed to par two consecutive holes, but my game from 150 in needs a lot of work. Off the tee and on the green was a very pleasurable experience!

My session with the club's teaching pro was a very enlightening experience, and one that I will do on a regular basis for the foreseeable future.

So the journey begins ... not great, but for a 5 year layoff, I'll take it.

After a 5 year layoff I would take a 103 any day! 100-ish is the perfect compromise between 'not totally horrible' and 'room for improvement'. You will have a lot of fun in your next rounds: Congratulations!

Shot an 87 today. It's not very good at a relatively easy course, but it's early...I ended last season at a 4.1 handicap, so I have a long way to go.

My scorecard.

4th range session of the year. Decent session, although a little more consistency would be nice. 70% of my shots are tour pro esque, 25% are ok, managable ... and 5% are tops. Need to continue working on it before the season starts. So my sessions have gone like ...

1- Terrible
2- Good
3- Great
4- Good

All I need to focus on is getting the best weight shift I can, and swinging 85% tempo. I tend to top shots when I pick up, try to kill it, and don't get the best weight shift.

Hard to work on the putting and short game over the off-season, and the weather doesn't look like it's going to get better anytime soon. ATLEAST another 2 weeks before the snow clears, looking more like another month. Ah.

I played in the men's league season opener today at Valley View.

It was a beautiful day in the low 70's.

Unfortunately, my golf would have been in the 80's for 18 holes...I shot a 41 in this weekly nine hole tournament.

Here is my scorecard (hi-rez photos are attached, too).

This is my first post at the new(?) GR.

School game starting up.Can't wait.

Good round Fore. Looks like the putting was the only issue.

That and hitting a 5 iron into the pond on the #7 par 3.

Have fun playing for the school. I played on the school golf team in middle and high school.

I shot a 90 with two birdies. Its awful nice to get out first in the morning and be able finish in less than 3 hours.

Thanks Fore.

First few practises for school already. Even though it's a team sport, you can tell everyone is for themselves and really doesn't care about the team.

We got sidebets for who's going to average lowest, mimicking swings, and all around trash talk. That's the only thing I don't really enjoy.

Didn't have the greatest practise last time, and am headed up to the dome tomorrow to sort things out. First match is in the first week of April, hopefully the snow clears around here.

5th range session of the year. Continuing to improve on my ball striking, and am happy with where I am right now. It seems that even my miss-hits are dead straight, they just seem to be a little thin.

Getting my weight more to my right side and focusing on the back of the ball have really helped.
