Played The Hermitage in Nashville yesterday. President's Reserve course had a 47 and a 44 for 91 from the whites. Played well on the holes I didn't have bad drives on. On the other course The Generals Retreat was a little easier but still had some tight holes and trouble abounded on both courses. Tons of bunkers and water on both courses. Shot a 41 and 47 for an 88 on it. The 47 had 5 pars, a bogie, two triples and a quad. If you can keep in in the fairway good scores can be had. The rough on the second course was darn near unplayable being bermuda about 3 inches deep and the ball almost always layed down in it. The courses were not cheap at 69.00 and 59.00 w/carts respectively but a great experience for one to try. A little over 100.00 to play both courses. We payed full for the first and the second was 29.00 plus tax.
They sound like tough courses. My Aunt lives near Nashville and I might go visit her in the Spring. Maybe I'll see if there's a website for those courses and make some tee times in advance.
Played 9 in the wonderful hot muggy conditions. Shot a 45. I started out with a triple bogey . I birdied one par 3, and I triple bogeyed(?) the second par 3 . Didn't hit a single fairway or green (except the birdie par 3).

I think you would love either course but for the long bombers the President's reserve is the longer course. They do have a nice website with some pictorals plus a hole by hole mapping. If you get a chance to play it then give me an update on what you think of it. The write-ups I read rate it highly and I don't think you would be disappointed. I forgot to add the course rating on the President's Reserve is 74.4/132 from the tips and the General's Retreat is 72.3/129 from the tips.

Reason: add to post
I played the Lake Course at Mirror Lake in Villa Rica, GA outside of Atlanta this morning. It is part of the Canongate group of courses which I joined earlier this year. This was the first time I have played Mirror Lake and it is one of the toughest courses I've ever played. From the Black tees, it is rated 72.4, slope 137, 6,826 yards. Call me a glutton for punishment, but I hit it pretty long and just don't feel right playing the forward tees.
Anyway, I hit the ball pretty well, but couldn't make any birdie putts and ended up with an 85. As a 10 handicapper, I was pretty happy for my first time out there.
I played River Islands today, for some reason my favorite course even though I've never even broken 100 on it. Well, today I broke 100 for the first time with a 99.
I wouldn't really be that pleased with a 99 in any respect at all, except that it was 58-41, which means the back nine was the best nine of my life. The front nine is nothing worth even remembering, but a 41 on a course like that is pretty exciting for me.
Solid ballstriking except a couple of bladed wedges, but I just can't shake that nagging tendency to just hit the ball to the right. I found the straight ball a few times but it continues to elude me for the most part.
Playing again tomorrow (this is the greatest trip I've ever taken ) and will probably post here. First time to the course, we'll see what happens.
New best score, and first time breaking 80! I shot a 77 (41-36 on a par 37-35) today and just beat the sunset. The course rating was only 66.2 from the tees we played, but I'll take it (a net 83 would still be my best by 6 compared to my previous best net score).
Four birdies, seven pars, five bogeys, and two doubles (both on three-putts). I had a putt to make par or better on every hole. 6/13 fairways (plus one ball that went through the green and one that landed on the front fringe), 8/18 greens (1 GUR), 31 putts (8 one-putts), 4 up-and-downs (all in the last six holes - I was grinding!) for par.
It really all came together for me today and it was exciting to see. Only two shanks the whole round, both with the driver when I stood too close to the ball. The putter is working wonders. Thanks to everyone who has helped me here, I can really see the improvement.
I have just completed 3 cards to try and get my handicap back - par 71 I have done 92, 86 and 82. However I will put money on them not giving me a handicap any higher than that I last serviced 6 years ago - 9.0
I shot a 78 in Day 2 of the Valley View men's league club championship.
Like yesterday, I had one poor swing ruin a good score. Today's was worse than yesterday's drop kick OB to get a 7. I shanked a 5 iron into very tall rough and got a 6 on a par 3.
I still shot my handicap...Net 144 and tied for 4th place. I won $140. I have some shopping to do because I also won the last two twilight tournaments.
