I took a lesson last week and changed my swing quite a bit. Even without any range time after the lesson, the changes I made worked well and I had a really good round Sunday. I shot a 90 on a course that I normally shoot close to 100. My personal best is an 88 on a par 71 course that is a bit easier than this one. I shot a 48 on the front, then a 42 on the back to break my personal best of 43 for 9 holes.
My putting was off, but I was striking the ball much better. This course has several holes where I always seem to end up in the water and this time, I never went in the water. I made a few bad decisions that cost me strokes, like trying to hit a draw and cut the corner on a dogleg, which cost me a couple strokes getting out of the trees. But overall, it was a great round. I made 2 birdies, which brings my lifetime total to 6. One was an absolutely picture perfect 40 foot breaking putt. The other came on a par 5 where I hit driver, then 3 hybrid to get on the green. I missed my 15 foot eagle putt by about 6 inches.
After finishing 2nd in the medal two weeks previous (+9 even with +6 in last five holes) I was out again for another club comp.
Front:+6, Back: +2 (finished bogie, bogie, bogie ). +8 total gave me 3rd with 38 points. Still happy but need to finish my rounds better. I had a 12ft put on 16 for birdie!!!!!! duffed chip on the 17th and 3 putt on the 18th
44 which included two triple bogies and a 4 putt after reaching the green in regulation on the final hole... But I did have a chip in birdie too! All balanced out i guess.
89 last Sunday. It was the first time I broke 90 since taking up the game again. I had been averaging 98-99 for several rounds. It was 105 to 110 before that. I have to try to break 90 again this Sunday.
Everything was somewhat solid, although I didn't make any long putts. The 8 greens is not a true stat because most of the misses were around the fringe. First round after readin c80pages of Golf is not a game of perfect, I think it's helpin me.
I thought I had it...shot 34 on the front, had a nice par on 16 and 17 to stay in it, then just needed a par on the short par 5 #18 to shoot a 69. I hit my 2nd shot a little to the right and in the water. I had little chance to save par from there.
I wanted to prove that I could score low again after my 70 and at another course.
I was on track at even par through 14 holes, but faded badly at the end.
I bogeyed 15-17. I failed to get up-and-down on a long par 3, hit a thin 60 over the green on a par 5, hit a weak PW off the tee on a par 3 into the bunker, but made a great saving putt on #18..fell into the hole after a few seconds on the edge hehe.
It was a nice Sunday during a Labor Day weekend. Saturday, I was planning to go fishing, but didn't get out of the apartment...getting out is much better.
I shot a hack 72 on par 71. 36 on front 36 on back with a effin ugly double on the last hole. Oh okay, lets just hit our tee shots under every frikkin tree and somehow shoot 72, I am sorry but wow. F&*@ing gross.
