shot an 85 today on a pretty easy and short course (6600 yards) but still, unreal for me.
ive been playing serious golf for like a month and a half and prior to that ive been playing about five times per year for around four years. never had a lesson before.
shot a 47 with awful putting on the front and shot a 38 on the back nine with overall great play for me. an awesome day on the golf course fo sho....:)
shot a 96 sat. had fun...3 putted twice for bogey ...did have a birdie and few pars...overall fun day and awesome weather!!!! also on par 4 338 yard 17 almost drove the green..about 20 yards from the green...sweet!!!
played 9 holes at Eagle Creek Resort today. shot a +2, 38. drove the ball pretty good. iron play was good, in fact, i'm about 1 club longer than last year... carried my 9i over 160yds. on 3 occassions. hit a par 5 in 2 with a 3i from 240yds. putting wasn't great... the Cameron Detour is getting traded in at Golfsmith this Friday... the aluminum insert is just too soft.
played 18 holes on a simulator... played pretty good. Shot an 82 at troon north. I still had some unlucky breaks. like I hit it in a bunker and none of us new if you had to hit it harder. So we chose you didng and so i just hit it normally and well it landed in the bunker again.. so I ended up getting a double body after a birdie
Putter was teasing me all day, but the rest of my game was good after the first five holes that I went +5 on for yet another ice cold start to the round...40/36 8f,8gir, 32 putts ...76.
I shot a 48 today on nine holes from the whites which is terrible for me. My driver and putter were fine, but my irons and wedges were terrible because they are WAY to short for me. I hit 5/7 fairways, 17 putts, and 1 green in regulation. Anyway, does anyone have any recomendations for some new irons and wedges? Thanks a bunch.
playe a halfway decent round today. first round with the new Bettinardi putter (love it). played the championship tees (6924yds.) at Eagle Creek Resort (Ken Killian design... guy who did Kemper Lakes). front 9 was horrible, ended up shoot a +4 40 on the front... 4/7 on fairways, 1/9 on GIR, and 14 putts. back 9 i started to warm up... it was only 35* out, shot a +1 37 on the back.... 6/7 fairways, 5/9 GIR, and again 14 putts. cold weather definitely effected my distance, i was 1 or 2 clubs shorter than usual. i had a few birdie putts lip out, didn't make a birdie the entire round, but i really didn't give myself too many chances. but, i'll take a 77 anytime after a little layoff.
Shot an 88 yesterday. My current handicap is 18.8, so I can't really complain about the round.
1 birdie, 5 pars, 9 bogeys, 3 doubles. Typical of me, 11/14 fairways hit, but only 3 GIRs. The birdie wasn't even a GIR. I was 18 inches short of the green on my approach, but hit the chip dead solid perfect.
Every now and then, you need a change of scenery... I haven't played any course but my home course in since August I believe, and my scores have reflected it. The OB's have been killing me, since the course is relatively tight, wedged in between some houses. Many people wouldn't have much trouble with it, but it mentally messes with me. My home course had a tournament going on Tuesday, so I went to a nearby course I hadn't played in at least 2 years. Tight also, tree lined, but there is only real OB on one hole. I played from another fairway twice and took one unplayable (next to a tree), and shot 89. And I left a solid 5 strokes on the course, 4 on greens with some faulty putting. I don't know if I just need to relax on my home course more, or play more a variety of courses. While this course to me has never been as challenging as my home course, I played from the back tees (only 6646, and it was playing a bit short), but it rates and slopes comparably to my course from my usual tees (home - 72.0/127, Tuesday's course - 70.7/132). Go figure...
Played on Tuesday(19th). Horrible wind...absolutely brutal. It was steady at 15-20 mph and gusting up over 30. Played the 5800 yard tees instead of the normal 6250 tees. Managed to somehow shoot an 84.
I went out on Tuesday and shot a 45 on the front nine down on a course in Texas. I was down there visiting family. I had two of my longest tee shots ever, a 319 yard drive on a 443 yard hole and then a 260 yard drive with my five wood. I had a pretty good wind helping me but I will take my first 300 yard plus drive anyway I can get it.
