I shot an 80 in a gross/net men's league tournament today. I hit a rake on #9 when I was trying to get on in 2 with a 3 wood from the bunker. We didn't see it and never found it. I should have hit the hybrid hehe.
I shot an 83 yesterday in a state tournment. 41-42. I didn't miss one fairway all day but I had 2 three putts which killed me. I think I had 2 doubles, but 9 pars which is good for me. Unfortunally, no birds because I couldn't hit a putt all day. But I still came 7th out of 72 high school kids between the ages of 14-18 (i'm 13). Anyway, it was a fine day!
First time out this season... I walked 9 holes yesterday morning on my home town muni. I shot 41. Pars on 2 & 7, birdie on 9, bogied the other 6. Chipping and putting was a little off, which is all too common on these particular, postage stamp, flattop greens. Only hit 4 of 'em in regulation. Penalty stroke (OB) on 6 turned my other birdie into a bogey. My iron play was the highlight of the round. I was dialed in on my distances... wondering if my new X-ray vision has anything to do w/ that? On 1 & 4, even though I missed right on my respective 8-irons, they were both pin high.
On number 7 (long-ish par 3, #1 hdcp, 185 yards w/ green sloping down and to the right towards a creek bottom), I had a pretty stiff breeze in my face, hit a 4-iron that had eyes... it hit about 4 feet in front of the pin and hit the pin on the bounce... which actually kinda hurt, cause it screwed up the spin and my ball rolled all the way to the back, leaving my a long two putt for par... but I'll take par on that hole any day.
I had a pretty good day today, I shot 39 on the front nine, with my first eagle on the 9th hole. (playing whites). And I shot a 42 on the back playing from the tips (blues). I'm very happy about my first eagle and i'm ready to go do it again!
I had a fun birdie on #17 today in this weekly 9 hole men's league tournament. I hit Driver/Driver (off the deck)/Putter (from 30 yards out)/Putter for birdie.
#17 plays way uphill on the second/third shot. The flag was all the way up front. I had no green to work with. You don't want to hit past the hole with it up front. I didn't have a good lie. Out comes the putter and I hit it below the flag and made the big breaking putt for the bird.
The score wasn't good at all, but that was fun and the weather was perfect. I've been playing in these weekly 9 hole tournaments with an old golf buddy.
I like to hit the R7 425 off the deck sometimes. The last time I did that I put it on the green and didn't think I could even reach it. I've hit it right on the line I wanted each time. It's usually low but rolls a long way.
This is a tight course...balls are often lost. I only lost one tee shot. We played a very short but tricky par 5 first and I hit a 60 degree wedge in the creek...rough start. It was a fun day with great weather and half a day off of work...that works.
I shot 40-40...way too few greens in reg and the putts wouldn't drop. Even when I hit the back of the hole it still stayed out.
Played in the rain today. Not too bad but I couldn't find my new golf glove so I was using my old one that has a big hole in the palm. Anyways shot a 37-39--76, which I'm very happy with. I was hitting my driver a lot shorter than normal, but my iron play was a lot better than normal. And every opportunity I had to hit a wedge turned out real nice (the first chance I had was on the 7th hole and I hit it within 3 inches of the hole!). Putting was okay, could have been better, I three putted the 9th and the 18th, so that stunk, but oh well, I'll take a 76 any day of the week!!
