Had a round yesterday, my first tournament ever actually. And It was the best round of my short golfing career.
Somehow the fact that it was a tournament made me nervous but also made me focus on nothing but EACH shot, and not the score for the whole or how I was going to appear in the tournament.
I shot a 47 on a course with nine whole's. Best Ive ever done :D(its not a par 72, but a difficult 68).
Here are my scores over the last couple weeks= my homecourse; lakewood=38,40,41,43,44 on a par 36. Lakewood isn't the easiest course, but it isn't the hardest either.
Then last friday my friend and i took a personal day (which is a free day off from school) and went golfing. we went to the easiest course in the area. It is a 9 hole course called Fairway Hills. It is a par 35, short par 4's long par 3's and one insanly long par 5 from the mens tees. So the first nine i shot a 36, and on the 2nd time around i shot a 33. So i shot a 69. It is the first time I have ever shot under par. It helps when the course is really easy though
played the best i have ever played, got out for 18 shooting a 70 on a par 72 (homecourse) is the only reason i shot that well, went 36/34.. went bogie free the back nine
Saturday I had my best round ever. Hit the ball really solid, chipped well (for me at least), and didn't putt too badly. That is until 16 & 17, I doubled 16, and tripled 17. Came back on 18 for par and walked away with an 88. I had two birdies in that round also. Par 72 course, and from the blue tees.
5/21/08- TPC at Deere Run, TPC tees (7258yds, par 71, and slope/rating of 145-75.6). went into it hoping to get into the high 80s, ended up shooting a solid +7, 78. off the tee was where i lost most of my strokes, had 4 penalty strokes due to lost tee shots on the back 9... my 4 bogeys on the back 9. my irons were pretty good, nearly holed out a 6i on the 215yd. par 3 12th... ball mark was within 4 inches of the hole. short game was great... any misses in the collection areas were bogeys unless played properly. fortunately my wedges were better than usual. putting was so-so, 31 total putts. loved playing the course, the condition of it was amazing, the layout was great, lots of memorable holes. well worth the 3 1/2 hour drive, i will be playing there a few more times this year.
