I had one of my best nines today after work. We played at a 27 hole course across the street from work...sweet afternoon...great conditions for golf.
I started out by hitting into a fairway bunker, trying to hit on from there (over water), not advancing it very far, and taking a bogey. It's a very, very difficult starting long par 4 to what is basically an island green...almost totally surrounded.
On the second hole, I hit a really nice drive down the pipe and only had 215 to the green. I hit a hybrid on a great line and ended up pin-high. I two-putted for birdie to go to Even.
On a long par 3, I hit my hybrid to the middle of the green, but it was downwind and the ball ended up over the green and in a hazard. I ended up with double and missed a 6 foot putt.
The golf gods realized their mistake and gave back one. On the next hole, I drove right to the center and between two fairway bunkers only about 20 yards apart. I then hit my best iron of the day...pure and it stopped 6 inches past the hole. I wanted to watch the whole shot, but I lost track near the end. I could see it right at the stick after the shot, though. I knew I hit it just right and was disappointed that I couldn't watch the entire shot. It nearly went in. The golf gods had everything to do with how close it got and me not being able to watch what they did to it.
On an insanely long par 4 (#8) I hit another drive right down the middle and hit a great hybrid to a back/left pin. I hit it just past the pin to the fringe and it rolled back down the slope toward the pin. I didn't make the putt from 20 feet or so, but it was like a birdie 4.
On the final hole, I pulled my drive a little, but it was a great line anyway. I didn't think I could fly the trap and did. I just layed up with a 6 iron well back from the water, then hit a pure 9 iron directly over the front flag. From there, I made the longest putt in a while to end with a birdie.
Here is the card and stats.

This was the first time to play with a co-worker with just us. He'll be telling others about it hehe.
Great afternoon...nice after having a bad day the day before in a big annual qualifier tournament...
