Re: What did you shoot today?

played in a junior pga tourny at mid rivers golf links. in STL. It was almost flooded the day and night before my tourny.. and so there was dead fish everywhere! but the course was soaked.. and one of the dad's in r group didnt think that we could remove tha ball from mud.. but knew we could from casual water. but on the 15th hole we asked a marshal. sure enough. we could remove it from the mud.. and that would have saved me plenty of shots. The best score was 88 while the worst was 116. While last year the best was 74, and the worste around 90. I shot a 102, and was about dead in the middle..

today i went and shot a 34 on a par 31. short course with alot of water

Re: What did you shoot today?

I showed up at the course at 7:15 pm to hit, putt, and chip some, but it was still pretty sunny and no one was on the course so I just paid the super-twilight rate to try to get in 9. It was one of the more eventul rounds of my life:

- I had no warmups so I topped the first tee ball into the ground making a gigantic divot. I don't like mulligans at all but this was just for some quick fun so I reteed and worm-burned it down the fairway.

- I ran between shots and finished 9 holes in 65 minutes. I'm sure this contributed to some of what I'll write later.

- I hit four greens out of nine and two-putted all of those to play them in even par. The other five holes I was +11 combined, including a nasty 4-putt from about 6 feet on a hole I just didn't take the time to read the break on. So I had 4 pars and still shot a 47. That's my game for you.

- On #8 I pulled my drive left under a tree. There were a couple of twigs behind the ball by a couple of inches so I picked them up to move them. The only problem is that they were mushy - not twigs by any means! I'll let you figure out what they really were. Also the ball was resting against one of these "twigs" and it got all over the ball when I hit it. Most importantly, though, this hole was one that I made par on

- On #9 my drive landed JUST right of a tree 150 yards out on the right side of the fairway. I couldn't take a full swing - was thinking of Tiger Woods at the Masters breaking his 4-iron - so I pulled out my 4-iron to punch it out. Well I did just that, hitting it about 75 yards down the fairway... but the shaft broke on the tree anyway! I told a couple of people this morning that if I had known I was gonna break the shaft I would have hit it hard enough to get it to the green!

- I also lost a headcover off one of my Rescues as I was jogging somewhere along the course. Don't think I'm getting that one back.

I think this may ultimately turn out to be the most expensive nine holes of my life after I replace the 4-iron shaft. But it sure was a good time!

Re: What did you shoot today?

Hit 85 on par 70 course yesterday, which is average for me. But felt as if it should've been a lot better. Lost my swing due to playing volleyball and tennis the day before (I hadn't played tennis in 10 years, so I was all sore). Could not get a good swing rythm and hack through 18 holes, sometimes catching it thin with a little slice, sometimes, a draw, sometimes fat esp. on the short irons.

Re: What did you shoot today?

I thought I was going to follow up my men's league wins with another one, but I gave it away. I was 1 under through 5 then bogeyed 3 out of the last 4 holes. I had two three putts and one chunked 60 degree wedge approach. On each bogey hole I had a very nice tee shot...gave it away. I only had a 4 iron for my 2nd shot on the par 5 9th and still got a bogey...bad 4 iron swing and three putted.

here is the card and stats

The good news is that it looks like my birdie on #5 will hold up for a skin. So, the pay could be just as good as the past couple of weeks.

Re: What did you shoot today?

I had one of my best nines today after work. We played at a 27 hole course across the street from work...sweet afternoon...great conditions for golf.

I started out by hitting into a fairway bunker, trying to hit on from there (over water), not advancing it very far, and taking a bogey. It's a very, very difficult starting long par 4 to what is basically an island green...almost totally surrounded.

On the second hole, I hit a really nice drive down the pipe and only had 215 to the green. I hit a hybrid on a great line and ended up pin-high. I two-putted for birdie to go to Even.

On a long par 3, I hit my hybrid to the middle of the green, but it was downwind and the ball ended up over the green and in a hazard. I ended up with double and missed a 6 foot putt.

The golf gods realized their mistake and gave back one. On the next hole, I drove right to the center and between two fairway bunkers only about 20 yards apart. I then hit my best iron of the day...pure and it stopped 6 inches past the hole. I wanted to watch the whole shot, but I lost track near the end. I could see it right at the stick after the shot, though. I knew I hit it just right and was disappointed that I couldn't watch the entire shot. It nearly went in. The golf gods had everything to do with how close it got and me not being able to watch what they did to it.

On an insanely long par 4 (#8) I hit another drive right down the middle and hit a great hybrid to a back/left pin. I hit it just past the pin to the fringe and it rolled back down the slope toward the pin. I didn't make the putt from 20 feet or so, but it was like a birdie 4.

On the final hole, I pulled my drive a little, but it was a great line anyway. I didn't think I could fly the trap and did. I just layed up with a 6 iron well back from the water, then hit a pure 9 iron directly over the front flag. From there, I made the longest putt in a while to end with a birdie.

Here is the card and stats.

This was the first time to play with a co-worker with just us. He'll be telling others about it hehe.

Great afternoon...nice after having a bad day the day before in a big annual qualifier tournament...
