After my embaressing visit to the range yesterday I went out on the 9 hole course (Parr30) & ended up shooting a 37, & a 42, Then visited another local short course to work on purely the irons & shot a 41, & a 45..
Started off putting really well, Lots of one putts, some of which from long distance, short game good, but mid to long irons letting me down, there is something going wong, I started to get the long irons coming back a bit, but by the time I did the second 9 at the second short course, I was getting a little unlucky with liping out first or second putts & on the hole but last made a complete pigs ear of a shot, into the green, then compounded the offense, ended up in a bunker. Now my bunker play is normally very good & had been all day, but on that hole, nope, I did a Hitler (two shots in a bunker)
Fortunatly I saved some grace on the last 160 yard parr 3 with a 6 iron. Got 160+ yards carry & 5 or so yards run out behind the deep pitchmark. Two putted. First putt perfect distance to within 6 inches from the back portion of the green.
Shot a 37 on the back nine and a 42 on the front for a 79!! I was so happy I usually shoot about 81or 82 but hopefully it in the 70's from now on. By the way the course plays 6,300 yards and is par 72.
Yesterday, I amassed a horrible 95 (53out/42in) thanks to some digusting short irons, and I guess you could call it "putting". Today, same course, same all around pathetic short game, I hacked out an 89 (46out/43in). Maybe next weekend.....
Man, yesterday really felt my 10 handicap coming back, and my game was coming into its own again. Started off +3 thru 2 on two holes I typically fare well with, but then got thru 8 at +3 and then get to the ninth which I birdie a lot or almost always par, just a 375 straight away par 4 and I get a **** 7 after hitting a tee shot against a bush. So I ended up shooting 85 on the day, +13, which sadly is one of my better rounds lately, but man I gotta get my handicap back down.
Had an up and down day, 35 on the front with 3 birdies & 2 bogies (hitting only 5 greens) and nine pars on the back (hitting 8 greens) for a 1 under 71.
I shot a 102 today: 51, 51. I continue to get in trouble with my driver because I am coming across the ball ("over the top" i believe it is called). This obviously causes me to lose distance and miss fairways to the right. Oh well, I did strike the irons more cleanly and putted okay.
Played Quail hollow in Cleveland ohio today, beautifull course so me and my Sunday golfing buddy team up against 2 other 10 or so handicappers (he knows them so they were not sandbaggers) well the one guy shoots even par and I mean pars every hole on the front and between them they par or birdie every hole on the back, I shoot 80 my friend shoots about 105 and is no help and I loose $46.00, plus it was supposed to be a free round because they won 4 player round but somehow someone else got my free round so it was 65.00
+1 on the back nine in the weekly twilight...should be in the money.
I missed my drive a little right in the trees and had to punch out on #18. I hit an 8 iron pin-high from there, but two putted for bogey. I started out two over then was even going into #18. #18 is a long par 4 dog-leg right.
I think the low of the day will be a 34 and there was on eagle on a hole I was hoping to get a skin for with a birdie hehe. Someone must have holed out from 100 yards or more.
Could have been better if my irons had showed up. I hit 7 greens on the front, but only 2 on the back. My putter bailed me out for a 33-36--69. Made a bunch of 8-12 footers for par.
