Had a frustrating round where I hit the ball fairly well, but couldn't get the putter working. Was 2 over for the day with only one birdie. However, that lone birdie on one of our easiest par 4s turned out to be the only skin in a group of 40 golfers. Whee!
83 from tips on long but easy par 70. Nice calm day, but it was hot, 100 degrees Houston summer. Left a couple of long putt way short and three putted because of it. chipping was ok, a couple not close enough to save par. Not the best driving day, but not the worst either, it was in the fairways, or just off it, a couple I had to hit low punch shots to the green from the trees, which I manage to land just in front of the greens on both occasions. A couple thinned drive, no distance, but managed to recover with nice long hybrid to the front of the greens. Overall nice day of golf.
Shot below my age again today. What a difference from my play recently. And I started out with a double on the first hole when I couldn't find my tee shot, which had gone maybe 5 feet into the light rough. Made three birdies after that to turn at 35. Then bogied #10, followed by five birdies including both par 3s for a 67. Now that's entertainment!
Had an easy 70 today with a lone bogie at #10. Countered that with a lone birdie at #2 and a lone eagle at #12 (a par 4). Finished the round getting up and down on #18 from 20 yards out of a bunker. When the 8 foot putt went in for par I forgot how miserably hot and (probably) dehydrated I was. Whee again.
I didn't really keep score. I walked 36 today and it was great. I did have the mis hits today though. I would say I shot about +4 to +7 each 9. Not one 9 was "excellent"
My best shot of the day came where I hooked my ball left of the fairway right beside a tree. I didn't think I had a shot but I kept thinking about it and decided to go for the "hero" shot. Why not?! There was water short of the green. I was about 135-140 out. The problem was there were 3 trees blocking my way to hit a straight shot to the green. I was hitting the hook all day so I decided I might as well try to hook it around. I aimed 15 yards right of the green directly to a bunker. It caught a leaf of a tree but it kept hooking, carried the water, and landed on the green. I had a 15 footer for birdie but missed it. lol. It was a nice shot that I was pretty proud of.
Had my worst day in quite a while. One over 37 on the front nine with a lone bogie coming via a 3 putt at #7. On the back nine my mind and game went numb. Doubled #12 after driving into the rough (with a 3 wood). Then a triple on #15 that saw my drive go 6 inches into the rough and never having a shot from the fairway. Finished with a nice double on #18 where I failed to get out of a greenside bunker on my third shot. Scoring: 37 - 45 --82. This was a very humbling experience which included both physical and mental errors in abundance. Oh well, the three fellows I played with were fine gentlemen, the cart girl was drop dead gorgeous (even chatting with a geezer like me) and the day was a perfect one in which to be outside.

NorEaster could learn a great deal from you, my friend. Of course, it must be easier to be so philosophical having shot your age so many times.
Just golfed at Cog Hill Course #1. I shot a 92 which was decent for me. I hit more fairways and stayed away from three puts. My 100 yds or closer shots were terrible. Had lots of fun though and was able to enjoy the nice weather
