89, for a net 73 (2 over par). That was OK for me, considering that my card included an 8 and a 9. It'll be an 86 when the league posts it, because Equitable Scoring Control (ESC) doesn't a person with my handicap (current GHIN is 14.8) have anything more than a 7 on the scorecard.
Par 3's are a good thing to work, getting closer to the hole. The thing that i work on the most is par 5's because those can make a big difference, i can reach quite a few par 5's and if i birdie 2 of the 4 on a course i am happy. I need to make more birdies on par 5's.
Greg, the way i look at par 3's is just a par 4, but the tee shot is eliminated. I just think of aiming to the center of the green as i would on a lot of par 4's and making the pars. Of course when the pin is accesable fire upon it, but when the pin is tucked or in a more difficult position i just think of it as i am playing a par 4 and try for the easy 2 putt. I do not know if that makes sense or if it will help you, but it has helped me on par 3's alot.
The problem at my course is over half of the holes are Par 3s, and a lot of them are 200+ yards. Then my main problem is I have to hit a perfect driver shot (or avg distance, perfect accuracy) to get it onto those greens, so that's where I pick up strokes easily. That's why, when I first joined this forum, I said I really need to increase my driving distance.
aahhh i see. 200+ par3's are tough and very intimidating that is for sure. I don't worry about them a whole bunch cause i am pretty accuracte with long irons and my 5 wood. But i remember how hard par 3's were when i was a shorter hitter, hitting 3 iron and 5 wood off the tee s****d especially back when long irons were hard for me to hit.
try changing hands ....or stop playing that goat track you call a golf course
played a country course last week .fairways were great
started with a bogey ....then how the eagle putt on #2 ended behind the hole without dropping baffles me
15 pars on the trot then a bogey last
Happy as a pig in **** being my first time on the course

I didn't play so great yesterday. I started on the back at Linwood. I got a birdie on #10 (105 yard par-3). I hit a sandwedge within inches of the hole. Anyway, one 8, three doubles, and four bogies later, I have a 48 on the back. Not so bad.
Then, I explode on the front and get a 52 for a not-so-great 100 at a not-so-hard course (68.7/124)
i shot a 91 yesterday with 9 pars if that tells you anything. the course plays long though at about 7,000 yds. from the tips but i made way too many doubles.
well i went back to my home course and got exactly what i got the last ime there, 107 on the dot again.....this time i actually putted well but could hit my long irons or even my mid irons that well........i am just dying to break 100 there and i think it will be pretty soon....my buddy actually dropped 5 more strokes off his game so he is improving nicely......
I shot 82 yesterday, which was a very confusing round. I warmed up terribly, my lower back was aching, and for some reason, I couldn't BUY a Par! Chipping in for a birdie to start the back nine helped jump-start the round, and I finished strong.
And.....NO 2x/3x/4x bogeys! I hope that if my putting cooperates, and I can stay in the fairways, I can break 80 for the first time ever.
109, but it was a tournament where, once we got it on the green, we had to draw the ball one putter-length away from the hole. I could have parred 14, but the green is so sloped, and I did par 15, although I could have birdied it if it weren't for the bad slope again.
89 today, after starting off +7 through two. I think I had 4 bogeys, 4 pars and a double on the back. That might be three straight rounds in the 80's for me!!!
just back from playing a match for my club, an inter-club competition, which we won and are now through to the semi-finals of it! :)
7 man team, 1 point given for the win of a match. at out home match we won 4 1/2 to 2 1/2, so we needed 3 points today to win, and we got 3 1/2! phew!
there were no handicap allowances, they were all flat matches, its the format of this competition. i won my match 5&4, played well. i just counted up my scores from all the holes i played and i was +1 for 14 holes, with an eagle on 14 to win the match!
