geez, it was in the lower 50's here yesterday, so went out and practiced my wedge play in the 80 to 100yd distance, but alas, it's colder than u-know-what today again. oh well, better than nothing. lol.
shot a 79 today shot 42 on the front and finished the back with a 37. second time in the last two weeks that I have played like poo poo on the front and pulled it togethor on the back to break 80. Makes me feel good that I turned it on instead of giving up. finally getting to the point where I can break 80 30-40 percent of the time
i hope you learnt something from the "robber" hehe
i played today ...like a complete spastic tho
a swingflaw i have thats been costing me several shots per round for ages now , killed me today
i will normally apply a bandage or work with it but today i just let it take over - so i could have a really good hard long look at exactly whats causing it
it took 16 holes but i got it nutted now
just a matter of practice , to ingrain the new and out with the old
I played on Saturday, temperature mid-40's (F), but pleasant as you like. Hooked up on the first tee with a new member. He said his handicap was officially 14, but he was playing to about 10. He was back from a 7 year absence from the game - previously he'd been a scratch player. I'm a 20 but we had a good time.
In some ways it was the most valuable round I've ever played, since he was the best golfer I've ever played with. He passed on some really useful tips, including a drill that should help me improve my balance and thus ball striking. I hadn't played for three weeks so my timing was off, but after 7 holes I played nice tidy golf and hit five or six of the crispest iron shots I can remember.
I shot 50 out and 41 in - the 41 was two under my handicap. What was great was that I was level pegging on the back until the 18th, when he birdied and I three putted for bogey (in the dark on big undulating green).
Playing with this guy has made me decide not to try to self-diagnose using magazine tips. I had pretty much worked out that I have balance issues, but this guy saw me hit three iron shots and then started fixing it. As soon as I can get a practice routine going I am getting some lessons from the pro at the club (or more likely the assistant pro).
