If you are wondering why I didn't finish, it was because it was pouring down with rain and, the I'ld have to put the card in, and it would just be scary to see my handicap drop that much!

88 today, fell apart badly on 17 & 18, ah well.

I see Graham was right when he said he'd talked you into doing the 'Rawhiti Shuffle' with the cards

Cheers,
Jim

Good score Grey_Smith,
Since it was your first time at a new course!......How long have you been playing for?

I remember when I used to shoot those scores a couple of years ago, it gets easier!

+2 over par for 9 holes (37)

Here's the story - so I was out Sunday afternoon, on a BEAUTIFUL sunny, Texas day. But..........the course was VERY crowded, due to the nice weather. Since I was walking, I was holding up the entire course, and decided to walk in to the clubhouse, to start on #1 again (with no crowds).

And..........I was ON FIRE!! I was -1 after 4 holes, and managed to save par FOUR TIMES! Here's the link to my score - I finished with a 37 (par is 35), for +2 over 9 holes. This is the best 9-hole stretch I've EVER played!

I made the critical mistake of thinking to myself...........self - you might shoot even par today! And threw in a few bogeys! Ugh.

Great shooting Sam ! 13 putts To finish with a bogey on a par 5 had to hurt. We're we thinking about our final score a bit too much at that point ? Is the picture from the course you played ?

Thanks! Yup, this is my home course, "Great Southwest GC" in Grand Prairie TX. (link above) It's very affordable ($0 initiation), and is a very nicely secluded oasis in themiddle of the city. It's not the longest course on earth, but it's challenging, the greens are VERY slippery with a lot of slope, and there's virtually no housing or development on the course............so, it's very quiet, and it feels as if you're out in the forest.

I'm playing a LOT better since joining a club - more practice, more play, and the calmer conditions with less people are very conduscive to lower scoring. Yes,it can be expen$ive, but I feel it's well worth it.

It looks nice. Doesn't look like Texas except for the big sky. But what do I know about Texas... I only drove through the panhandle once.

Congrats ChefG! That's a pretty big step. Try to break 90 now.. you were pretty close to doing so.

Thanks BDR, I owe it to my improved short game, was pitching/chipping the ball closer to the pin setting up for easy putts. I was playing twilight, was getting dark and rushed my tee drive on hole #17 ball went under the trees and couldn't find it. 2 strokes lost...Anyway I just hope I can keep my score in the lower 90's...

I played poorly 2 day, i shot 41 front, 32 back... I had no focus on the front and cleaned up the back. I had the pleasure of playing with a 17 yr old Korean Phenom 2dy, who 33 front, 37 back.

So he cleaned my clock... I'll get him on Wed

Playing Maderas in San Diego today at 9:00 am. Greens should be lightning after the Santa Anas have blown the past few days. Going to play conservative; hit irons off the tee, and grind it out. I love going to play golf on Saturday mornings!!!
