I played in 35 km/h winds today and shot a 76. I was pretty happy and ended up getting second in the second biggest tournament around my area. I ended up winning a King Cobra Sz400 driver or something, the new one. Pretty sweet club, but the wrong hand, so i am gonna see iof i can trade it in. My putting saved, probably the best i have putted in a long time.
Thanks. Yeah i haven't been able to try it out cause it is the wrong hand. I was thinking of giving it to my dad but it would be a waste to get sky marks all over it. I think i will trade it in and see how i hit it.
It isn't really a big tournament, well it is, but it isn't super serious. It had 122 people ranging from me (the youngest) to people as old as there are able to golf. But it is a charity tournament to raise money for my local hospital. Cost me 75 bucks to enter (cdn) but i won a sleeve of Precept Utri Tours, that Cobra Driver, 175 bucks in gift certificates and then a CD case and nice little pen plus we got steak supper which was good.
There was around $6500 cdn worth in prizes and all of them were donated by companies and they all donated money as well. I think there ended being close to $20,000 canadian in money raised for the hospital so it was for a good cause.
Nothin special comin second in the tournament cause besides probably 20 guys they are mainly guys out there raising money and everything, hackin around.
My group won most lost ball which i thought was funny me and my friend never lost any, but we had these 2 guys from out of town that last 19 balls combined...our group ended up winning a pack of XL3000's but we gave our share to them, the guys that lost all the balls haha.
There was also some other nice golf prices, Wilson Deep red Distance Tour or something (one of Wilsons top models), Dunlop redneck Wilbur and Dunlop Centre Shafted Tad Moore putter which is also milled and a bunch of other goodies. It was a good day.
I guess wqhen i said biggest i should have said most people....just to clear that up cause reading it now it seems like i may be saying one of the op tournaments around, but definetley the biggest with most people.
Today I played and I hat a 61 on 9 holes. At three of the holes I got to the green form the tee. But today my putting game was off. The majority of my shots off the tee were real good but the short game was not up to par. But I did take 9 swings off what i had last weak.
I shot 88 (par 61), which isn't bad. My short game was amazing, but I found i was overshooting the green a lot. I guess I've been underestimating myself. Oh, and my pull magicly disappeared today. I aimed right, expecting a hook and getting none. My short game saved me so many times. I paid up for the Junior Club Championship today, the Championship's next Monday and Tuesday. Wish me luck!
yuck.
followed up an 89 with a 101... first time I've been in the hundreds in months. it didn't help that the back nine screeched to a halt thanks to a whole lot of HS kids trying out for their school team, and I only saw about 2 that would add anything to a HS golf team, so the backed up foursomes walking didn't help the waiting game at all! But, three shots to get out of a simple lie in a bunker on 10, and hurrying my tee shots (and thus, spraying them all directions) didn't help. two doubles to finish the front in 47, and a horrid backside 54 did me in.
Yes it does hurt but is it that bad for my 3ed time playing? And here is the thing that on 3 of the holes i landed on the green and on the rest i landed right off the green. But my putting game brought me down. So is this score even bad for my 3ed time playing?

Actually not bad. But man it sounds like if you could sink a couple putts you could be deadly.
it seemed like i didnt have my normal "edge" about me, i just couldnt seem to get anything going and ended up shooting 84, ouch! It could have been worse, i could have been working
played a 9 hole par 4 course today after work... was only able to finish 7 holes, finished 6 over... this is significant because my handicap is about a double bogey a hole...
okay i lied.. u have to add 4 strokes cuz i took two mulligans (one off the first tee (shanked it) and one off the 6th (once again, lack of concentration).. (maybe i woulda been better off just hitting the balls from where they landed (one tee up ) i wouldnt have incurred those penalties)) .. i played by myself and there was no one behind me, so i had all the time in teh world..
so i guess 10 over on 7 holes with the penalties... still good for me
Still doing a bit better that those tripple figures a couple of weeks ago, a couple of 91's, a 35 pointer in the mid-week S/F game today, and a 97 at a different (and rather more difficult) course in the monday competition.
Best news of all is the number of fairways I'm hitting with the drive, instead of the usual slice into the trees
Bad day...103 (net 78). 52 front, 51 back. I 'gotta start breaking 100 again.
Anyway, that was the first eighteen. I decided to play a third nine (walking in the heat, mind you) and around the 6th hole, I was getting a little woozy. Someone I was playing with (a doctor) kindly pointed out that I was showing the symptoms for minor heat stroke. Lovely. Anyway, a cart was sent out to take me back into the clubhouse. Water wasn't the problem. I was drinking plenty. Apparently, I didn't replace my electrolytes. So from now on, I'll bring a bag of pretzels onto the course so I don't sweat out all my energy. So, the heatstroke wasn't THAT bad. Once I got in the clubhouse, I just drank water and ate some pretzels for about 15 minutes and then I felt better...
Oh well...maybe next time I can get heatstroke for REAL!
