One of the legendary tales of Moe was him aiming for a bridge about 240 yds out that crossed a creek that disected a fairway and hitting it. Well, yesterday I was on course that had a bridge that crossed a wetland area that dissected a fairway. I thot I could carry the hazard, which required a carry of 225 yrds and was hitting the ball well up to that point, so I thot what the heck, I'll give it a shot.
My playing partners starting ribbing me b4 the shot and I completely lost concentration and hit a horrible tee shot - hit it fat (I absolutely hate hitting a driver fat  ). The ball went right for this bridge - we knew it rolled onto it, but since the bridge is over 30 yards long and curved with nothing stopping the ball from rolling off of it, we just assumed that it would roll off of it and go into the wetland hazard. But lo and behold after we crossed the bridge, there was my ball laying perfectly 20 yards past the hazard right off the cart path. So not only did it go across the long curved bridge, it rolled another 20 yards on the path before sitting perfect in the short rough. From there it was just an 80 yd pitch, and I hit the wedge perfectly - I knew it was good as soon as I hit it, but never thot it would end up just inches from the cup for an easy tap-in birdie.
To make it better, that bird won a skin worth $70 - a great way of getting back to my playing partners who gave me such a hard time b4 teeing off! I will never complain about the bad breaks you seem to always to get - at least for this one hole, the golf gods were finally on my side!
