I wouldnt have any one shining in my mind, but to my mind, the worst feeling you can get from a shot is when you have a little chip which you hit the ground an inch behind the ball, it is really horrid
was at twilight golf a year ago
10 holes of stableford starting off on the 9th hole and the handicap system for it was idiotic to say the least .. people were getting 26-28 even 30 points on 1 occassion
id played out of my skin and had 24 points with 2 holes to go
2 easy birdie hole ..the last with a shot .....31 points was my aim
i ripped the tee shot on the 17th , pulled it right a little , hit a tree
no biggy - still an easy par - BUT it didnt come down did it - no points ...walked the hole
that wasnt the worst shot tho . it came next
galeforce tailwind , a par 4 thats 310 yrds long with the teeblock up 40 yards to protect the actual block from damage "midweek greenfee players"
i took out a brand new strata tour ultimate 2
teed the ball high .and wasnt going to drive the hole , no , i was going OVER it . i didnt care about my score
it was hot , windy and id just blown a great card
200% swing . middled it , but the timing of the clubhead release was a tiny bit out
the ball never got more than 2 feet off the ground and was going like a bullet .with a big tail to the right "hook"
id setup for a draw so it started leftish .
anyways - on the right about 160 down is a huge pinetree - i missed that JUST but the angle of the ball was such that it found a mother and 10yr old daughter who were out collecting pinecones hiding beind the tree
the sound was aweful . then the scream
the poor girl , flush on the thigh
i felt sick for hours
Oh and I nearly forgot my shot at our clubs easter tournament,
It was the second round and all of a sudden I started shanking it
It was terrible!!!!......so I finally got to the 17th tee, teed up my ball....then SHHHHHHAAAANNNNKKKKK......right into the back of a mans head, we were all screaming fore but he was just sitting there (deaf???) ...I felt so bad afterwards, but he didn't care
It wasn't your normal shank either.....It was really really bad

I think we've all hit a shot (or two) like that in our lives. I can imagine how terrible you felt for hitting the little girl. Hopefully a bruise was the only damage, but I have to ask....what were they doing on a golf course collecting cones during play? What was the mother thinking that would justify putting a child in harm's way like that? We all know the damage a golf ball can do to young bones (old ones too for that matter).
Here in America, most courses have rules against non-players being on the course during play. If they lived along the course, the mother had to know the risks. Didn't she?
First Saturday in April, 1994. (Because of a mild Minnesota winter, I was able to play that day.) I had just resumed playing golf after a 20-year layoff. During the previous 2 months, I had been taking lessons and practicing diligently. This was my first outing on a regulation-length course in 2 decades. I walked on as a single and was assigned to 3 strangers. I was dressed sharp and feeling good. First tee. With these strangers and 2 foursomes waiting, I hit a grounder off the toe of my driver into a shallow pool of water about 40 yds off the tee, at a 45-degree angle from me. The water wasn't even a hazard; it was just a bit of low-lying ground with a pump in it. Geez, it was embarrassing. Re-teed and hit a decent shot, but what a way to start, especially with 3 guys who never saw me before. Or since, thankfully.
I was about 125 yard to the centre of the green so as usual hit a full pitching wedge. Seemed to hit it well .. actually must have smoked it because it flew the green ( probably 145-155 yds) and landed in some lady's pool behind the green. Luckily she was underwater when she saw the ball come down beside her. I guess it wasn't my worst shot ,, more embarrassing because I felt bad for almost killing the lady.
I think everytime I go out, I hit a shot that could classify as "worst shot ever." I can't stand topping balls with woods and shanks. Skulling shots come a distant third.
ive been hit by a ball travelling maybe 25% the speed that i hit the girl
the bruise took a month to come out , let alone go away
one drawback of being a member of a municiple course is idiot non-golfing public using it as a place to let their dogs do do do etc
cheap fees tho , im only there to have a handicap that lets me play small tourneys around the area
