Well i only have a month left in my season and it looks as though i won't get a round in at all.
I had hockey this weekend and ended up doing something or other to my rotator cuff in my left shoulder and also messed up my right elbow and as the doctor said "strained the heck out of it" (my shoulder). I also cracked a rib and did something else to something in my shoulder, i wasn't paying to much attention besides the part when i can golf or play hockey again, but my mom knows everything i did. Darn hockey boards are hard especially when you go into them full speed after hitting a huge rut in the ice. I am lucky to not have gone in head first, i shifted over just enough to hit on my shoulder, if i didn't have shoulder pads on i don't know how bad it could have been.
It is painful, i am not supposed to play hockey for about 3 weeks and i asked about golf and she aaid that atleast that because of the need for your shoulder and everything. She said if it feels good in that many weeks then try it, but i doubt i will risk it.
Anybody else ever had an injury and had to sit out the rest of the golf season?
I am pretty mad
Sorry to rant on, but i needed to vent.

Sorry to hear it, Junior. Make sure you follow doctor's (and mother's) orders; you want to be sure to make a good recovery.
Never had a season-ending injury. I broke an elbow figure-skating once. But it happened in February and I was able to play golf when the season started.
Junior,
Sorry to hear it. My competitive golf season ended about seven weeks ago, I got hurt while playing football. I had to withdraw from some late season tournaments. I am just about ready to start hitting some short iron shots, and by the time i am ready to play a round, our season is just about gonna be over (NY).
Sorry to hear about your injury. A couple of months ago, I actually tore some ligaments in my left thumb (you'd be surprised at how important that finger is!). I actually went out and played the next week, not ever taking a full swing. I wouldn't recommend it, though. My thumb still isn't completely healed. What you can still do is practice your putting.
I lost almost an entire season a few years back with a rotator cuff injury acquired in a volleyball game in late May. Take my advice: Just rest and let it heal. I wasn't really 100 percent until the following spring.
As a fellow Canadian, I feel I have the authority to give you some advice. With such an abbreviated golf season, you MUSN'T do anything to shorten it! NO hockey...NO rollerblading...NO hacky sack! In fact, if you can get people to open doors for you and carry your books, all the better. And, if you absolutely can't get out of cutting the lawn, I've got two words: SAFETY BOOTS!
Good luck for a speedy recovery,
David
PS Oh yeah...wearing a helmet at all times couldn't hurt!
Sorry to read about your injury, but you're young....you'll heal fast. That kind of injury could end an older golfers career. We were all your age once and most of us that played multiple sports were right back at it....usually against doctor's or parent's orders. Take it easy, don't push it, and you won't make things worse. That will be hard advice to follow though.
I feel lucky to be in the Bay Area. I even wore shorts this past Saturday early morning back nine. Tee'd off around 6:45am. Weather really wasn't cold. Maybe mid 50s. But after walking a little, I felt warm and even took off my vest shell. But I do have to say that this weekend we did get cooler weather to give me a hint that fall is coming. I've never really golfed in the winter here, but since I'm now regularly playing, I will soon find out.
My friend tore the legiments in his ankle during football practice. He is on crutches. It was one day before golf team try outs and a week before districts. He was really depressed because he just got a brand new putter and was excited to test it out but then he was injured that day. I hope I don't get hurt anytime soon. I have provincials this weekend and can't get hurt. I am sorry to hear about your injury and hope you get a speedy recovery.
I tore up my knee last year and my season ended in July after the surgery. I tore it up again this summer ( going down some stairs !! ) and will probably need ligament surgery this time, and quite a bit of recoup time. I hope ( yeah sure !! ) that I can get in soon and be ready for next years season. Us old guys don't heal as fast , so let your shoulder heal completely before you really tear it up and can't do any sports anymore!
Sorry to hear about that. Last summer me and my friend were riding four-wheelers when he hit something on our local trail and fell off. He broke his collar bone and arm. Needless to say he was on the D-L for the rest of the golf season here (Iowa). Ouch-It didnt help that he was the number one player on our high school team and my best friend.
