I'm (Finally) a Single Digit Handicap!.......

FINALLY!! One of my golf goals has been achieved - I can finally say that I'm a SINGLE DIGIT HANDICAP!!

I've worked very, very hard on my short game, lessons, swingplane, etc. etc., HO'd some new shafts and golf clubs, but I think the MOST important thing that contributed to this was joining a private golf club.

http://www.americangolf.com/detail-p...urseidlist=174

If you've followed my posts, I grew SO frustrated with playing public golf as a single player, I joined Great Southwest GC here in Grand Priarie TX. And.........the course familiarity, opportunity to play and practice MUCH more, and peace of mind on the course have led to better play.

So......................according to a website statistics and tracking system that I use, I'm currently a 9.72 Handicap - A "Single Digit "Capper!" Yea!

PS: I realize the RIGHT way to track handicaps is with the GHIN system, but I haven't subscribed to that yet.

Actually!..............My next goal is to try to become a solid enough player to compete at local stroke-play tournaments without embarrasing myself.

I want to compete, have fun, and play good, boring, consistent golf, and eliminate the blowup holes, and penalty shots. Since I have a distaste for the "fun" events like corporate drinkink/schmoozing/gambling tournaments, I truly enjoy playing with serious, good players, and I want to compete with them on equal footing.

I have some specific goals for my statistics (example: I want to see 60% of fairways & greens, and putts/round under 30), but I'm unsure of my next handicap goal - I'm going to shoot for 7.5, then 5.0, then 2.5 then......maybe..........SCRATCH!!! (hopefully!)

I encourage ALL golfers to work hard at their games - this game REALLY is a LOT more fun when you play well, and the better I play.......the more I WANT to play!

Sorry to be late with this, SamT, but

Congratulations!

Yes, I do remember your posts regarding your dilemma about where to play. What a continuation of the story! (I was going to say "ending," but I look forward to more chapters.)
