I have club champs senior final in 2 days!!!!
Her handicap in about a 6 or 7.....so It will be a tough match!
Does anyone have any tips on what I can do to have an advantage (with being nice .....I don't want to step on her line or anything )
Hi, g.g. I'm sure lots of people will give you more and better advice than I can, but here are a few things I'd do:
---Get a good night's rest the night before.
---Get to the course in plenty of time, so you can get relaxed.
---Whatever happens after the first few holes, don't get too happy or too discouraged. Remember that there will still be lots of golf left.
---You say it's strokeplay (not match play, as it says in the thread title), so you're both playing against the course as much as you're playing against each other.
---If you lose, look her in the eye, say congratulations, and mean it.
---And if you win, be gracious. She'll be disappointed.
My money's on you, g.g. Good luck, and tell us what happens!
I'll do that...
Oh.... I made a mistake by saying stroke play.... I meant it wasn't on handicap, I'll edit it now.
36 holes..... and I start at 8am ....... Alot of people want me to win...because she has won it for about 4 yrs in a row, and some people don't like her very much
1st ...RELAX !!
let your clubs do the work .trust your swing and abilities
the harder you try in golf the worse it gets.im sure your recent experience at rangiora showed you that.
just play 1 shot at a time and try to score the lowest you can on each hole , meaning NEVER give up
is very easy to think "oh heck ive lost this hole - shes got a 3 foot putt and im not even on the green " you duff your chip cause its seemingly pointless
you can chip in and maybe win the hole , get up and down for a half , she could even 3 putt from there
matchplay brings out some strange things in golf so NEVER give up on a hole
shes going to get tired going into the 2nd round ...this is hopefully where your youth will help
like was said in the other match play advice thread..don't worry about the MATCH..worry about each shot individually..try to keep the pressure on her..force her to MAKE her 4 foot par putts..play it hole by hole..great thing about match play is that if you need to go for something, worst case is that you lose that hole..
