First Golf Vacation

For my 30th birthday, the wifey will be giving me a golfing vacation as a present. She suggested Arizona, Las Vegas, or maybe a Carribbean island. Unfortunately, she doesn't play. Some may think I'm lucky But when I'm out on the course, I want her to be enjoying herself and not stuck at the hotel.

Do you guys have any golf destination recommendations or good experiences? Preferably, at a warm location. I want both of us to have a good time. Thanks

How about Hilton Head. Myrtle beach without the commercialism. Nice beaches, bike paths, shopping, spas, 30+ golf courses (all good) and if she so desires, a bunch of tennis courts. Depending on the time of the year, it can be a little warm...

Obviously, lots to do in Vegas. When you are playing golf, she can gamble, shop, go to spas, etc. Then at night, you will both have plenty of things to do. The golf is fantastic!! TPC The Canyons, Reflection Bay, Paiute Resort, Rio Secco, etc, etc...

Melba, If you can get to play any of the Paiute courses, i highly recommend them. About a 40 minute drive from the strip, but well worth it.

Also, I have a friend that lives in Vegas the RAVES about Lake Las Vegas (formerly Reflection Bay).

If you want somewhere completely different, I'd suggest coming over here to Ireland. You would get the chance to play some completely different golf, links courses, and there is plenty of very nice parkland courses too.

Also, it is a very beautiful country with very nice little villages and some great shopping in the larger cities for your wife to pass the time.

Only one gripe with Ireland would be if its good weather you are looking, you'd have to wait until about June/July/August. The weather in all other months can be very unpredictable, and it may rain quite heavy. Its a beautiful country though with lots of great golf to be played.

Well, I've been on several golf vacations with my family, and others with just myself and my dad. I go to Hilton Head every summer, I've been to Palm Springs California for Thanksgiving twice, I've been to Myrtle Beach and Scottsdale Arizona. And this winter I'm going to Innisbrook in Florida. Of all those places my favorite was Palm Springs. I love Palm Springs, especially in the winter, it has some great golf courses. If you want the best deal go to Myrtle Beach. I don't know too much about the Caribbean, my dad has friends that have been there several times and they have said in order to get some good golf you really need to Island hop. So I don't know if your neccesarily willing to do that. But where ever you go enjoy your vacation.

A great golf vacation would be on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in
Alabama. Ther are at least 13 great golf courses from north all the way to south
Alabama, all are wonderful to play, great prices, and the weather in
Alabama is wonderful this time of year for golf.
Give it a try, it will be an experience of a lifetime.

If you could make it to the west coast, Monterey has a ton of beautiful courses such as the famed Pebble Beach. There are many courses some more $$$ than others. Monterey is more of a quiet area, good for a quiet get-a-way, e.g. bed and breakfast. There is also the Monterey aquarium, 17-mile drive, and other tourist attractions. Great restaurants and San Francisco is about 2 hours north.
Wherever you decide have fun!
