Well I finished the season off pretty well today. After not playing for over 6 weeks I played my final round, that I can post for the year at least. I shot 78 with my first eagle on the 5th hole at the course I'm a member at. We were playing from the middle tees, normally play from the back, because my father and I were playing with a friend and his older father. Well the hole is 387 from the middle tees and I didn't want to hit a full driver because I can easily hit it into a creek thats about 110 yards from the green. I ended up hitting a cut driver to about 130 from the green in the fairway. There was a little wind against me and the hole is up hill so I take an 8 iron to compensate for all the extra distance added. I hit the 8 iron right at the pin and I think I have about an 8 footer. I get to the green and see no ball, the first thing that pops into my mind is "oh man I bounced off the green" I look around the green and there's nothing, my caddy and a pretty good friend goes if it isn't around the green then its in the hole. I look down and there it is. I shot one over after the first 11 holes but managed to blow up on the last 7 holes and shoot 5 over on the back.
Congratulations on your first eagle! I made my first and only eagle last summer and I've been waiting for my next one ever since. Maybe instead of waiting, I should get proactive in my bid for another eagle. Hopefully, you won't have to wait for your next one as long as I am.
I've only had one.....but I putted it in(short par5)
I would love to get an eagle like you did!!!! If I get one it would be so cool! I can just see it now...me doing phil mickelsons starfish jump(heheheee)
Way to go, PingPlayr! Hope you took the ball out of play immediately so you could save it. I would, anyway. That's a pretty great shot. You didn't mention finding a ballmark on the green. I wonder if it sailed in on the fly. Either way, congrats!
The ball mark on the green was about 1.5 to 2 feet before the pin. I didn't end up saving the ball, I asked my dad and he said "well its not like a hole in one, so I wouldn't keep it." I ended up loosing it on the 16th hole, a long par 3, pulled my 3 wood into a lateral hazard, ended up getting up and down for bogey but I did loose the ball. I'm pretty modest, I usually don't celebrate or anything when something good happens, most of the times I just walk to the tee box or next shot. I found when I was younger that I would loose my concentration to easily when I celebrated. I almost never talk, not because I'm stuck up but because I'm usually to busy concentrating at the task at hand. I talk more to the caddies then my playing partners, lol.
