Like hockey I think golf dos not translate to TV very well. Cant follow the ball/puck. A 100 yard sand wedge shot looks like the guy is out 200 yards on TV. Most of the coverage seems to center around putting which I can understand due to the above reasons.
It also seems that they shy away from showing any bad shots. Its not that I want to see these guys humiliated but for the longest time I thought all the pros did was hit the middle of fairways and land the ball 5 feet from the hole on there approaches. Even Tiger can attest to the fact that this is far from how things tend to happen.
I find head to head competitions like you see in charity matches or Wonderful world of golf or a two or three man play off at the end of a tournament much more entertaining just due to the fact that you get to see each players individual shots in sequence.
As far as preferring the Lady's over the men I think I would rather watch the Lady's at this point. That way I don't have to be envious watching the men and there super human drives and birdies on 490 yard par 4s.
Can't remember the last time - not due to any chauvanistic attitude or anything, but I never seem to find an LPGA tourney when I surf the channels on a Sunday afternoon. If I did come across LPGA tourney coverage, I'd probably watch for awhile.
Yes, especially if Kristie Kerr is near the lead! (rowwwrrr!!).
Seriously though - I think watching the LPGA is much more realistic to the way most of us play in terms of distances, etc. The PGA tour is all Driver/Wedge, but watching the LPGA shows much more creativity, and variety in their shotmaking, me thinks.

I like to watch the ladies play. In addition to the fact that some of them are downright cute, they play a solid game, have smooth swings, and focus on the short game a lot. Their yardages are about the same as most male amateurs too.
Ditto that! I spend a lot of time on 4-5 various golf forum boards, I find the folks here very, very nice. It's funny to see the different personalities of all the different boards, isn't it??? They all have a different feeling, for sure.
I enjoy the LPGA for the same reason SamT does. Makes me feel like they aren't so far above me. However, I do get tired of the shorter rough, wider fairways, and pins in the middle of the green. The first two always vary, but I would love to see more tucked pins.
My problem is we don't have cable, so I don't get to watch the LPGA very much. Hardly get to watch the PGA for goodness sakes!
I'll watch it if Michelle Wie is playing and Christina Kim (practice at same practice facilities as I do). There are a lot of young Asians on the LPGA tour now. Some like it, most don't. It doesn't evenly represent USA TV viewership.
A lot of females don't have "book style" or ideal swings. I've analyzed a whole bunch on my DVR. Females don't putt as well as the guys. I can't figure out why not. There should be no reason what-so-ever at all.
