distance intervals with irons

hi everyone,
i've got a question about the distance gap between irons. it seems like the distance between irons is inconsistent. i was just wondering what the gap between irons should be, 10yds, 15yds, 20yds....
thanks

Its about ten yards for me ,used to be a little more. Anything over 170 yards now is a wood.

I am about 10 yards on the short irons and 15 from 6 up.

The distance itself doesn't matter as many players will be different. Usually, the gap between the wedges/short irons is shorter than the gap between some of the longer clubs. Although this doesn't hold true for all players, it does fit many.

Dude,

If there are yardage gaps in your set that are inconsistent, you might want to have the lofts of your clubs checked and adjusted. A good clubmaker can properly gap the lofts for you to eliminate any inconsistencies. Check out www.proclubmakers.org for a list of PCS clubmakers that may be in your area.

Jeff

Wow. Those distances on the calculator were 20+ yards short accross the board for me. I guess I downplay my ability

The only problem with that calculator is the woods. The irons are very accurate, but the woods are about 30 yards longer on the calculator than in real life. I guess I know what I have to work on now...

I wish there was a range close enough to me that had good yardage markers. . . darn course on base here is always moving the tee's back and forwards, with no 0 yardage sign in sight. I so need to get out of SC. lol

My results were good from low irons to about the 8 iron then got off by a bunch in the 9 to sand wedge numbers.

I wouldn't recommend Selfridge AFB in Michigan right now! Be thankful for what you have!

Selfridge with the accent on the "Fridge" part. 20 degrees right now with 3-5 inches of snow on the ground and an overnight prediction of 8-10 more inches by morning.

Just how bad do you really want to get out of SC? It's a lot harder to judge yardage differences when the balls are landing in snow drifts!
