Playing in the snow

Playing in the snow.

Would you play golf in a lite snow?

I will if the snow is not hard and to cold outside.

Sure, playing in a lite snow is almost a requirement in NDak. Colored golf balls sometimes help depending on how much snow. We probably don't play too often while it's snowing because we don't get too much 'warm weather' snow, but we play in the spring when there are snow banks early in the season every year.......

Well as far as snow it is rare here in North Al but we do get maybe 1"-2" for a few days in Jan. and Feb., if I lived where there was snow more often, maybe I have to give that a lot of thought

I'll play with snow on the ground if it's not covering the majority of the course. Snow sticks to the greens first and if I can't putt....I don't play.

The thing with "flurries" is they usually cover the greens quickly. Frozen ground and frozen greens make for some interesting approach shots!

I've never actually tried it... I don't think that the big drives would be a good trade-off for the sprained wrist the 1st time I hit one fat.

You learn how to "pick it" real quick! I wasn't referring to drive distance when I mentioned "interesting approach shots." I meant the way the ball bounces on the frozen ground and greens. I've seen balls bounce 20 feet in the air out of a sand trap! Of course the trap was half filled with ice! The Bump and Run becomes part of your game real quick!

If we want to extend our seasons here, we have to play with the chance it may snow. Playing until it snows and stays and the ground is what most of us die hards will play till. In the spring, when we cant wait to play again, we try and play on mostly green but sometimes white courses. They usually open with some snow but you get use it. Besides, it does also make for intersting shots out of snow filled bunkers

Nothing like swinging through the snow. And with the frozen ground , one does get a lot distance of the tee.

this happened to me 2 weeks ago.

par 3- 135 yards.......i pured a 9 iron to a back left pin location. it hit the green and BOUNDED into the air at least 15 feet and hopped out of bounds behind the green. i had to laugh because i knew i hit a good shot.

Playing in snow was amazing, last year me and my mates played the two days after christmas. There was a light snow shower so we took yellow balls. Snow is amazing to hit from, but as leaguegolf says the low tepmperature does cause a lot of problems on the greens.

So how do you play the ball out of the snow anyway? Like a bunker shot?

I've played with snow in the sand traps and such, as it's like that every year here in the spring. I've played a few times when it was snowing. But never when there's been snow covering the grass...courses shut down too fast.
