First Eagle of 2005

For those of you in warm weather locales, lucky you!!

For New Yorkers, playing golf in January is rare, but on January 1, we had a 60 degree day, so I grabbed the opportunity to play. I struggled, but enjoyed every second of it. My round of 83 included an eagle on the 17th hole!! I left the course feeling like I shot 69.

The 17th was an uphill par 5, 475 yds. I was playing skins with two buddies, and it was very tight coming down the stretch. My five wood second shot from 205 in the middle of the fairway landed on the green, on the top tier where the hole was, but rolled left and to the lower tier, leaving me about 30 feet. One of my friends made a two-putt birdie (ho-hum), and then I rolled in my 30 footer for eagle, to take the skin.

I think it was my 10th eagle, so for me, they are very rare.

Good job indeed. A short par 5 though. Wish we had one of those for a [relatively] easy eagle.

Good point Robert, it was a short par 5. When we play Bethpage Black, they call 475 holes par 4's!!

I didn't mean to demean your accomplishment in the least, I really hope I didn't come off as so. Great job, again! I should talk, I haven't eagled yet. (Although I had a couple close calls at a similar hole)

Don't be ashamed with only 10 eagles! I got my first just before Christmas on a short Par 4 by holing a 70 yard shot with a lob wedge. It was elevated green, so I didn't see it go in, but it was one that after you hit it, you think "Boy, that felt nice".
