Best "In your face" story

Going out for a quick 9 with a couple of my league members before our league started and they sent us off the back. #10 is 208 yarder, we waited for the green to clear and my friend tops one 100 yards. As my other friend was teeing up a 3-some making the turn, comes up and one says "it's our tee, we're making the turn". I told them we'd already begun teeing off, there's a group ahead of us & a group behind them and they could wait. After a brief & mildly nasty exchange my 2nd friend nervously snap-hooks it about 120. I figure the heck with it and told them to go ahead. They teed off snickering , slapped it around for a 4 & a 5 then stood just off the green and waved me on, watching. Well, I stuck a 5-wood pin high 8 feet and they hurried to the #11, a 229 yarder. As they left the green at 11, they were moving a bit faster, I ran a 4-wood up about 6 feet past. #12 was a par 4 with an elevated tee and I waited for them to hit their approach shots and teed off as they were walking to the green... well I just smoked it, it must have carried 270, landing about 10 yards behind them. They turned looked back at us & hurried on and we never saw them again. I missed both birds and wound up bogeying #12, but they didn't know that. Not my most courteous moment on the golf course, but one of my most satisfying.

A classic tale of revenge.

Good job.

This past year my partner and I were heading out to play 9 holes before league play (yes, that's legal in our league) on our almost deserted course. We were walking and as we teed off the 10th hole a "single" woman approached the tee. We asked if she'd like to join us, or play ahead, and she gave us a one word answer...."No."

We play very quickly and occasionally we play more than one shot. An extra tee shot, or chip, and especially extra putts......as long as there's no one behind us. This woman was always well behind us (we checked continuously) and we thought nothing of playing extra shots on the open course. We finally caught up to a twosome playing #17 and that slowed us down enough to have to wait about a minute on the 18th tee.

After the twosome was out of range we both hit two tee shots (it's a risk/reward dogleg that I play with 2 different clubs. Depending on where I stand in my match) The woman was putting out on the nearby 17th green as we were walking off the 18th tee box and we again asked her if she would like to play in with us. She immediately went into a profanity laced tirade about how we played more shots than we paid for, we had no business holding up the whole course, and we were a couple of no good low lifes. (I cleaned that part up )

We were stunned. This woman was always a hole or a hole and a half behind us and we played in 1 hour and 40 minutes, even with our extra shots! I've never been involved in an on course altercation so I just shrugged it off and started walking toward my bag. My partner then says to her, "No wonder you're playing by yourself lady!" She now looks at me, pulls a cell phone from her pocket, and says, "I saw you just hit 2 balls and I'm calling the clubhouse!" I just ignored her, pulled another ball and my driver from my bag and headed back to the tee. Now she really lost it and screams at me, "YOU'RE GOING TO HIT ANOTHER BALL?" I turned, looked her right in the eye, calmly replied, "You talked me right into it!" and headed for the tee box. I could hear the steam coming out of her ears as I teed it up, took my time over the ball, relaxed, and probably hit my best tee shot of the year on that hole. I posed, watched the ball come to a stop, picked up my tee, and gave her a wink and a smile on the way back to my bag!

That was by far my most satisfying shot of my year!

That's a good one league. I've taken comments like that before... like your 2'nd shots were coming out of their pocket or something.

Hehehe.... I'ld love to see that League!
I don't have a very good story to tell, but I'll tell one anyway....
The greenkeeper at my home course is the Senior ladies champion's(she beat me this year ) husband!
And he hates me practicing so I get an advantage!....
One time in one of our clubs bigger tournaments I was practicing my putting for like 30 seconds on the practice green, then he comes up on his big tractor and puts the sprinkler right where I'm standing, says nothing and turns the tap on full blast!!! - I get saturated of course.
Then I politely ask him to turn it off, he says "You should practice your putting at home not at the golf course!" (he's a grumpy old man!) so I walk up and turn the sprinklers off, then he drives up and turns them on again .
So I get fed up with him and chuck the sprinkler in the rubbish bin and sit on top of it
I NEEDED TO PRACTICE MY PUTTING- is that too much to ask

In your face!

About ten yrs ago, we were playing a practice round for our local intersectional matches. The four of us were relatively the same index (around 10-12) and we were on the 15th hole par 3. The green is about 165 yrds over a water hazard, with a hole which was tucked 4-5 paces onto the green just over a bunker on the right side (short side) and about 5-7 paces in front of a second bunker which was behind the hole.

Player #1 hits his shot to about 3 feet, his brother hits long and into the back trap, player #3 knocks his to about 2 feet. Now I'm up and they're already talking about their birdies and who was closer to the pin for the $$. I looked at them and asked for about 30 more seconds, so I could hit my shot in closer to the hole. While they're still laughing............. yep thats right, I stick mine to about 18 inches and look back at them with my hand out $$$$.....................

The other funny part is yes we did make 3 birdies, but the guy coming out of the trap hit the flag and left it on the lip for a par. 3 under for the four of us on that hole

I was with a buddy of mine, and we got paired with two other guys. One of them was a big-hitting, tough-talking lefty, who was a decent player, but I was clearly outplaying him. I think I shot even par, or a couple over for the round. He made a few nitpicky comments about my game, whenever I messed up, and made excuses for himself. Towards the end of the round, we were waiting in the fairway, around 150 yards out, and I asked him if I could try his seven iron (he is a lefty, i am a righty). I drop a ball, and left handed, for laughs, hit a shot to about 4 feet. Talk about an exclamation point to the round. He never said another word.

It was a one time thing... no way I could ever repeat it, but what great timing to pull off that shot!
