It's a wonderfully maintained course, there's no easy hole and there are some really fantastic holes.
The 12th is a 97yd Par 3, but it's a blind tee shot as you are playing over 100 foot straight down and a small burn at the front of the green and bunkers at the back. It's a matter of hitting the ball and going to the edge of the hill and praying it hits the green.
2nd place Quinta da Marinha in Estoril, Portugal. Mostly because of the exotic location and scenery - the conditioning wasn't the best, but it was a beautiful locale.
Valhalla in Louisville, Ky. What an amazing course. At least the front nine was.
Played it on two hours sleep and kept it together for nine holes. We won't talk about the back nine
I haven't played too many courses, I've walked around some good ones though!.....
The best course I've played would have to be my home club, Greenacres!
I think the Universityof Michigan golf course is the best one. I've played a few private courses, some Myrtle Beach courses, but the U of M course just impressed me - also being a public course helps.
I got to play Shinnecock, and it's heaven on Earth! It's golf in it's purest form. No tricks (since the course was green and not burned out). Every shot was fair. If you hit it well, you were rewarded, if you hit it poorly, you paid the price. So much fun, and such a beautiful, natural looking course.
