Golf Card International

Just got this (junk?) in the mail. Pay $49 a year and you can play courses free with a cart rental. Sounds a lot like the PGA Tour Partners club. Anybody in this?

I got mine in the mail today, but I'm not paying anything until I find out which courses are free or deeply discounted.

If you make a point to play the courses that are members, the Golf Card is a pretty good deal, paying for itself after a few rounds. However, some clubs place restrictions on Card use, like honoring it only weekdays or only after noon. Some give a straight 20 percent reduction in fees, etc. Most allow Card use only once or twice a year.

I joined only because my buddies like to drive to play distant courses, and I got tired of always having to pay more than they did. Left to my own devices, I'd never play more than 30 minutes from home.

Many of the Golf Card courses in resort areas DO NOT offer cart fee golf. The course I just came from accepted the golf card which got you the same $10 off you would have gotten by staying at virtually any of the local hotels with which they were partners. As far as I know, that was the only company accepting the golf card.

I just looked at golfcard.com and it had a list of courses in my area. Not many close by me, however.
