$232 for lodging , a meal and a round on one of the best golf courses on the planet ? I'd jump on it if I could get away. If you decide to go, take some pictures. :nodsmiley

The price is excellent, since to play #2 it's usually more than $232, and since they are throwing in the lodging (i am sure their accomodations are very nice), it seems like a good deal. If you are going to enjoy the layout, atmosphere, and just "being there", go for it. If you are someone who really cares about score, the greens may have you frustrated.
It depends on when your planning to go, but if they aerated the greens last week, with a week off to heal plus a couple more days ... they shouldn't be too bad. I'd play #2 in the rain and if your banking on some sort of long range forecast, well you have much more confidence in them than I do. If they're calling for rain tomorrow, don't make any plans... but a week from now ? You may as well flip a coin.
Regarding the aerated greens it might not be that bad. Some course that I have played in the south will add a sand mix to the green after aerating so the holes are filled. The greens will slower but the ball will not be hopping around too much.
Good luck with that...either that or you'll need a regular camera and a scanner. Also, good luck with your round, I bet getting to play there will be an absolute thrill.
Fantastic, Johnny! I have a feeling you'll enjoy this experience immensely, even with the aerated greens.
Check out the ingenious angles of play on #2. And the severity of the fall-off on several of the greens will impress you.
With the course set up with ultra firm greens, narrowed fairways and tucked pins, the winner of this year's U.S. Open will be an excellent and consistent ball-striker who also has a stellar short game and hot putter.
If I was as lucky as you.......the first thing I'd try to find is my game!
too late for that!
my dad and i are going to play the US open tees also. at 7,200 yards and par 70, i doubt i'll break 90. but its all about the good times and i'll be sure to have a good time.
oh and x-14.....
my friend lives in greensboro and they advertised it on the radio all last week.
