I have a bet I need answered

A friend of mine is disagreeing with me about which would go farther...a golf ball hit with a driver, or a golf ball hit with a baseball bat. I say it goes farther with the driver, he says the bat. Any input ? (I believe the golf ball would go further if someone was pitching to you as opposed to just tossing it up in the air, but still not as far as a good driver can hit it). I know there are alot of "variables", but we're just saying "in general" which would go farther. Thanks guys.

Without a doubt it would have to be the driver...if not, then why aren't we teeing off with baseball bats? Seriously, I wasted all the balls I fished out of the course pond one summer before I started playing golf hitting them with a baseball bat and I assure you that there's no way to hit a ball with a baseball bat further than with your driver.

I would probably say driver because it's longer in length and I don't know if the spin rates off a bat would be optimal for distance.

A driver...and I don't think its even close...My clubhead speed on my driver is higher than Barry Bonds bat speed... so without even comparing the differences in coefficient of restitution or anything else the golf club goes faster.

Yup, the driver, no doubt. Now go ask this questions at a forum full of baseball people.

You really bet on this? Do you think you or anyone else can hit a golf ball with a baseball bat over 900ft (picture a baseball field)? The driver compared to a bat is longer, lighter and travels a longer distance which translates into clubhead speed which as we all know generates the power needed for distance (include the mass in the formula).

haha...I'd bet him any amount of money he wanted the driver will go farther. That is unless you can only hit your driver 140 yards or so? :)

Yep, f = m x a
One of the few things I remember from high-school physics.

This all depends on how "juiced" the baseball player is!

Seriously.......it's no contest.
