I still get that nervous excitement before teeing off but it's more because I'm trying not to make a *** out of myself on the first tee (could hit it great, could hit it way right, might not hit it past the ladies tees). I wouldn't go as far to say that I have trouble sleeping but i still can't wait to go out early morning. I dont think i'll ever get tired of the feeling you get when you hit a great drive or crisp Iron dead straight.

Well I never lost sleep because I was so exited but heading out to play still really gets my adrenaline flowing. I got over my 1st tee jitters some time ago. The worst feeling is after planning the day, getting all of my stuff in my car, getting up and into work early so I can shoot out early ... usually 1:00pm. I'm all pumped driving to the course and head into a storm front coming in. It's only happened to me couple of times the past few years, but getting rained out is the worst.

I still get very excited to play, every time. I hope it doesn't go away. Even when I'm playing a solo round working on things, I'm just as into it...

I play the drums, and don't get nervous before that performance, but golf is a different story. Thank God!

Excited? No. For me, it's more of a feeling of anticipation. I love to play and thoughts of golf are never far from my mind if I know I'm playing the next day. The day I lose the first tee jitters in a big match or in a tournament.........is the day I retire the sticks! :nodsmiley

I rarely ever sleep the night before I play. But then again, I work the graveyard shift so I never sleep at night. For the most part, I am pretty jazzed knowing I am going to the course. Even if the weather is poor, you get paired up with Charles Manson and you forgot your putter, hey, your still out golfing.

At the end of the day, if I played golf it was a good day... Tournaments are the only thing I really get excited about, but I've never lost sleep... I actually really like the feeling on the first tee of a tournament.

I wish all golfers had this attitude!!!

I still have trouble falling asleep the night before, I tend to over think things, so I pretty much play out the whole course in my head. The more I try and stop the worse it gets!!

I still get excited about the thought of playing the next day some, but not always...I used to lay in bed and think about the next day's round and how much fun it would be, and then after it was completed replay the whole prior round in my head that night. I've really noticed that when I'm playing well, I look forward to the next time I play, and that when I play badly, going to the course becomes more of a chore (and I'm not talking about working at the course either! ).

When I really **** I got that 'excited' feeling all of the time. Now I it only pops up when im in a tournament or if i am playing in the summer. When school starts I cannot be excited for golf... I'm too worried about other things But when School is finished... I have nothing to really worry about except enjoying the course
Hooray it's almost spring! And when its almost spring its almost summer!!! and that means no school!!!

That is one of the strangest things I ever heard of

I chose 'yes, always'...
I'm not like really excited though, I'm just happy to play, more excited than I used to be though... cos I like to play more.- ok that sounded really confusing oh well!
I don't get a nervous excitment, well maybe in the bigger tournaments when 100 people are watching you tee off, then I can hardly walk up to the tee! haha!...
Good thing we don't tee off on the putting green or I'd make a big fool outa myself .

Thank goodness "it's just not the same anymore"!

Many years ago I used to get so excited/nervous/scared in anticipation of playing that by the time I got to the course, I had to go to the bathroom at least one extra time before teeing off. Standing on the first tee I was often so weak from the extra evacuations that I was afraid I might faint!

But my love of playing kept bringing me back despite the discomfort. Now, I don't feel anything but the joy of being on a golf course with a couple of friends for a few hours.

I still get excited to play after 40+ years, but its a more controlled excitement.

I'm enjoying the time in between shots more and more - which makes up 99% of the time spent on the course. Playing with friends, BS'ing, swapping jokes and stories, complaining about stuff, smoking cigars, looking at pictures my buddies' grandchildren for the umpteenth time, etc...

Scoring, and hitting the ball well will always be important to me, but the "other stuff" that comprise 99% of the round is equally, if not more, important.
