I always hear the grumbles when I step onto the tee box, that is until I rip one 260 down the middle. I know there are quite a few men who don't like playing with females on the course. I have taken a fair amount of money off of some of these men though!!
I hate playing behind anyone who can't keep up and refuses to let others play through. If they're playing at a reasonable pace I don't care if they're male or female, young or old, or whatever else they may be.
Thank you. My brother introduced me to this site. Good to hear that the men here don't mind women. Our club has quite a few old men who can't stand the fact the I am better than they are. To be honest though, I rarely play with the other ladies in the club because they are slow and it is too social.
Hi and welcome to GR. I have no problem playing behind females, the problem I have is playing behind slow players male or female. There is one thing I have noticed it is usually the older male players that are slow and some refuse to allow faster players to play through. BTW hope you enjoy your stay with us look forward to reading your post.
I agree Halk, I have run into more problems with ornery old guys who play slower than molasses in January and then refuse to let anybody through at all costs than I have had problems following groups of women. It seems the only time there are issues with them is if you follow the leagues out, and if you get behind a group of women that happen to not be in the league, they're more conscious of their pace of play and tend to offer to let us play through more often. At least that's been my experience.
Hi girlgolfa, thanks for the welcome. Nice to see so many friendly people here. Looks like I will be getting some good golf tips.
The women where I play have access to the course all week, some clubs limit tee times but so few women actually play here. I end up playing with the men and once they saw I wasn't there to socialize they were fine
If the women understands the game of golf and isn't slow I'm fine with it. I find that most women that play where I play at are in their 40's - 50's, slower than I don't know what, and evidently don't know the rules enough to let someone play though...that's when women get to me.
[ot]I notice that a lot of women can't drive either![/ot]
Whenever theres a woman in my playing group there is always some guy who is giving her advice after every shot and extends the round longer and longer. As Harvey Penick said "no pretty woman can miss a single shot without a man giving her some poor advice."
I've generally found men to be more reluctant than women to let faster groups play through. Though, women in general are slower, because on average they're going to be hitting more shots.
