First Varsity Golf Experience!

Yesterday was my first ever varsity golf tournament. I am the number 5 golfer and we have a very solid team this year. We played at the Mahoney golf course in Lincoln. It's a pretty wide open course, not many trees. It had 5-6 par 3's. I shot an 85 and could have shot alot better, had alot of "stupid" shots. My first tee shot was in the fairway, and everyone was watching me so I was glad I didn't make an idiot of my self. But I didn't feel too bad because our number 4 golfer shot an 87, so I'm happy I didn't get the highest score on the team. Missed alot of putts inside of 10 feet. Hit a couple bad tee shots w/ the driver also. I hit my irons pretty solid. Our number 3 golfer shot a 73 and placed 3rd. Our number one shot a 45 the front nine, but battled back and shot 38 the back nine. The person who won the tournament shot a 69. Overall our team placed 5, but 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th was decided withing 5 strokes. I go to a class B school, and we beat most teams in our district, so our team has a good chance of going to state.

I love hearing our younger members tell about their matches. Reminds me of my own year on the high school golf team (I usually played No. 4 on a 6-guy team). Enjoy these days, folks. Even the disappointing outings will make for interesting memories.
