I'm going to have to try the E5. I'm using the E6 right now, but it just doesn't give me the control I like around the green. Excellent length, but not enough spin, even on full approaches with 8 or 9 iron. My favorite ball is the Pro V1x, but I just can't see paying the exhorbitant price that Titleist asks for them. It sounds like the E5 is going to be more like what I'm looking for.
For $25 a dozen, the e5 is the cheapest urethane cover ball on the market. Honestly, that's the only thing I look for in a golf ball. I play the e5 because I save $20 every time I buy them. Once in a while, I grab ProV-1x's, but usually I opt to buy the e5's and spend the extra $20 on lunch, or a shirt, or socks, or... you get the picture.
I found the e5 to spin slightly less on 3/4 and shorter shots, but still acceptable. Distance seems longer with full irons with the same spin as the V-1x. Driver distance might be better with the V-1x for me.
I love the e6. I've tried all the Nike, Titleist and Callaway balls. The e6 is so crisp when you hit it. It's not too soft and it's not too hard, it just feels right for me. It putts awesome as well. The closest thing to the e6 is probably the Nike Mojo IMHO.
E-6 are great golf balls. I myself used to play pro-v1's but i tear the covers off of them about every 3 holes. I did find I could spin the pro-v1 a lil bit more, but the e-6 does not slice or hook as much. I can play a whole round without scuffing them up either which has helped out my bank account.
