Played a round with the TP Black today. Played a lot like the Pro-V1x for me, maybe just a little firmer.
I did notice a little higher ball flight, as advertised, but I didn't like the feel at all. Too hard for me.....I had a tough time getting it to spin.
Over-all I don't see anything that sets this apart from the V1x or the HX Tour.

I would like to try the Red though as it is supposed to be comporable to the V1.

I played a round with the TP Red and liked it a lot. I think it fits right between PV and PVx. PV's spin too much off the driver for me, so I lose distance, while PVx lack feel and spin around the greens. The TP Red seemed like a nice happy medium.

I tried these in the beggining of the season and actually liked them. They seemed to go very straight. I thought distance was awesome but they seem a little harder to move right or left.

My Manager at Golf Galaxy gave me some 2 Ball Sleeves of the Black. Off the tee it's a lot like the PV1X. Around the greens it's extremely firm. I bought a box of the Red and it really does play inbetween. The Red has no problem going a long ways off the tee and around the greens it feels pretty soft. I'm a firm believer that the Red is the best golf ball on the market.

i to like the new Taylormade golf ball, however i found them to be just like the pro v1, no major advantages over pro v1, HX tour/56 or the nike one in my mind.

You might also want to try the Maxfli Redmax. It is also a TaylorMade ball. It's fairly soft and plays extremely well. It even says TaylorMade Red on it. I'm halfway suspecting the new TP Red is a rebadged Redmax.

Plus the Redmax is less than half the price of the new TaylorMade ones.

Never have liked the Redmax. I didn't know that it was going to have the TaylorMade logo on the side. Actually to tell you the truth, I found a box the other day and thought it was a misprint because all of the other boxes had Maxfli on it. Weird.

They're changing the print over. Older boxes still say Maxfli on them, the newer ones have TaylorMade Red.

I'm loving the TP Red. Shot a 68 yesterday. I have superior control with the ball. It's really long and extremely soft. I hope it sticks around. Again, I'm going to say that it could be the best ball on the market.

Im actually not impressed with these balls. The reds are better than the blacks IMO. but wouldnt have to think twice which to take, these or pro v's.

Ditto for me. Tried them and did not like them much. Seemed a bit hard and eratic performance overall. Of course could be and probably is me
