To me Bob, a "real world" opinion comes from people like you. You're a regular golfer, not a golf professional, or someone being paid to write a review. Myself, I've got golf balls running out my ears (there are probably 9 or 10 dozen in the top of the closet), so I'm in no hurry to run out and get a dozen golf balls just to give them a try.
That doesn't mean I won't buy a dozen if I continue to hear good things about them. The reason there are 9 or 10 dozen golf balls in the top of the closet now is because of hearing good things about a ball, trying it, and then never getting around to using the ones I already have.
I did, however, pull out a dozen old Titleist HVC Tour golf balls a few months back, and it made me wonder why it was that Titleist stopped making them. They were great golf balls - good feel, distance, and spin. Basically, they made me remember why it was I loved them so much "back in the day."
Like I said, if I continue hearing good things about the Top Flite Gamer from real world users, I'll probably give them a try. I don't need a high-spin golf ball that costs $40+/dozen because I already spin the ball pretty hard. I don't need a pure distance ball because I already have good distance.

I have not tried the Gamer, yet.
I used to play Top Flite Tour long time ago and I just might get a dz. of the Gamer in the near future.
You should also try the Titleist GRAN Z, many stores carry it for about $15 per Dz. in the bulk bin.
It's a 3 piece ball advertised in Japan for maximum carry, selling for more than the Pro V is in Japan.
What is a "real world " opinion. That is why I have been talking about them here to get other members to try them so we can get other reviews from differant people.
The softness of a Gamer I would compare to an NXT, AD333 and Bridgestone E5.
The Wilson 50's I found too soft and lacking in distance for me but they did play well on real cold mornings. What I like about the Gamers is that they are a Great Distance Ball like the D2's but have the soft feel of a D2 feel with the decent spin of an NXT.
The main thing is that there are finally good quality balls available for peope who just can't see playing for Nike One's and Pro V's.
The Nike's you mentioned were next on my list to try and probably will when the store runs out of Gamers.
That's what I'm hoping for with the Gamers. I played the D2 Feels this past season as my regular ball. I also played the NXT Tour some but didn't like coughing up $30/doz. for them. If the Gamer spins anywhere near the NXT Tour and otherwise plays like the D2 Feels then I'll love them. Can't wait for the snow and cold weather to disappear to give them a try!

I have talked to several peope waiting for the snow to melt to give these Balls a try.
I feel like the Lone Ranger bragging about these balls with not much feedback from anyone else. I just got another Dozen today. Don't exspect these balls to back up but they will check up real nice. You will love the improved distance over the D2's

I've been alternating with D2 Feel, Pro V1, and the GAMER during my last four rounds, the Gamer is as solid a performer as everyone so far has stated. On my regular courses where I am very familar with distances, etc., it does seem to be about 10-15 yds. longer than the D2. Chips great with wedge or 60° . . . a winner indeed. For the price there is absolutely nothing better!!
Finally got to play a round with the gamer.
Not quite as long as TM tp black, nor did it spin like the TM tp black ( release a bit more ). But not far from it and felt softer off both driver and iron.
One of the best if not the best golf balls under $20.
In response to Dave's question. The ball gets hairy off the Vokey's and the Ionomer cover will scuff to the point of replacement off the cart path. Haven't hit a tree with it yet.
was looking for a cheap dozen golf balls that have good quality, thinking about getting used pro v1's. now i will definitely go and buy this next time i run by golf galaxy. thanks for the input BOBX460
