My buddy has been bugging me for years to start using the Pro V1 and I have resisted. Started this weekend and really liked the way they feel. Didn’t score great the first time out… But hay! It wasn’t the ball. True what they say about the scuffing… I used to be able to get two rounds with a ball. After 18 holes the Titlist looked like it had been through a Hummer ride in Black Hawk Down!!! This was without hitting any trees!!
Best ball period. Nothing feels or performs quite like it. However, I only get to play them if I find them on the course because of the rediculous price. If money weren't an issue this would be my ball always.
To me the best ball there is - very consistent round the greens in terms of bite, roll etc and the best I've putted with. I also don't seem to have the problem with durability and often play 2 or 3 rounds with one. In summer which is our rainy season they last forever on kikuyu fairways - in winter the grass becomes dormant and gets hard I play the older balls. They don't stay white as long as say, Topflite, but they don't scuff nearly as badly as Hogan Tour Deep. I've tried Nike Gold and Black and for me there is no comparison.
This pm I'm going to try Bridgestone Tour B330-s - not that there's much in it pricewise.
that the V1s never retained a very bright white, So I started playing the x's, and they stay white... they spin so much, its really easy to slice.
i have no idea what some of you are talking about....i have played up to 4 rounds with the same pro v......i wash it at every box, and i have no problem with the covers coming apart, unless they find a cartpath or tree a few times....I haven't noticed them spinning too much off the irons and driver (i am assuming those who mentioned too much spin were suffering from a ball flight that balloons up and then falls almost straight down...) and it's not like it's because i'm not generating enough speed to get them moving...ball speed for me off my 905t was measured at an avg. or 165 mph.....and i can get the cleveland cg10s to pull it back anywhere from a foot to 12 feet....and still havent noticed any problems.......
so to fix the staying white problem, try washing it at every tee box....and if the covers are tearing up on your irons quite sharpening your grooves till they are razor sharp.....
Pro V is here to stay until titleist comes out with a version that spins the same but goes 10-15 yards farther...
Well im planning on getting some proVs but im looking for a 3 piece ball, that last the longest out of all top 3 piece balls, like the nike one black and silver and the pro v 1s and the maxfli etc any help?
The key word here is "almost." There's a reason the vast majority of players that are trying to make a living (or a name) for themselves playing golf, use a version of the ProV. Currently, manufacturers of every other premium ball on the market compare their ball to the ProV. Is there a better ball out there for you? There very well may be, but the Titleist ProV line of golf balls still sets the standard all others are trying to follow.
Thousands of golfers will pay hundreds (even thousands) of dollars for top of the line clubs and equipment, trying to improve their games. Then they spend $20.00 a dozen for lesser quality balls. Go figure.
