I've used the Pro V1 for a long time. I choose this version over the Pro V1x because I find I get similar distance with it and I like the spin better. It's definitely my favorite ball (although I've heard great things about the HX Tour and the Nike One Black). The thing I like best about this ball is the spin on the greens. I feel like no other ball I've tried holds greens better and because I don't have a PGA Tour swing, I don't have those problems of spinning the ball back too much that Tour pros seemed to have problems with.

I gave the ball 4 stars (birdie) because it's pricey but I can't really gripe too much about this as it's been the best ball money could buy for me. Another thing holding it from the 5 star rating is the durability. I'll scuff the ball on any full wedge.

The ProV1 is a wonderful ball, but I find that it spins out of control too much on hard fairway woods or Drivers off the teebox. I swing pretty hard, and have a very steep swing on the irons, and the V1 will get out of control VERY fast, if my swing is sloppy.

Otherwise - they're GREAT, very nice soft feeling off the irons, wonderful around the green, etc. etc. I wish they were not so expen$ive - the ProV1X is a better ball for me.

Another factor is what I call the "ProV1 Love Factor". Many people insist this ball is the "holy grail" of golf balls, but it's NOT..........there are plenty of premium balls out there that perform almost equally as well, and cost less. I see a lot of people who blindly play the ProV1 for no other reason that brand recognition - Yes, it's a good ball, but there are others, folks!

The key word here is "almost." There's a reason the vast majority of players that are trying to make a living (or a name) for themselves playing golf, use a version of the ProV. Currently, manufacturers of every other premium ball on the market compare their ball to the ProV. Is there a better ball out there for you? There very well may be, but the Titleist ProV line of golf balls still sets the standard all others are trying to follow.

Thousands of golfers will pay hundreds (even thousands) of dollars for top of the line clubs and equipment, trying to improve their games. Then they spend $20.00 a dozen for lesser quality balls. Go figure.

That is because a driver/iron/putter rarely goes into the woods or jumps into a pond.

The key word there is ....rarely! The difference is that when drivers/irons/putters go flyin'.....they go where you mean for them to go! This just supports my theory that better equipment translates into better results!

Ahhhhh, this justifies my recent expenditure on re-shafting my drivers with Aldila NV-S shafts! That DOES feel better!

All joking aside - I do feel that good equipment DOES make a difference. I can remember the first time I tried a "good" set of irons, properly fit my irons for lie angles, and used my first premium ball. It's Schweet!

I do find that the spin off the driver and long irons is too much. Around the greens it is immaculate. Scuffs up too fast. A Prov1 is only good for the front 9 AT THE MOST.

I don't think we even have anything but ProV1's at our house. Though, I think my dad does play with some wilson golf balls from time to time.

I'm sure Dad wouldn't mind if you pack up the ProVs he just leaves laying around and send them to me. He probably won't even care they're gone.

I'll send you some Prov's league. Would love to hear from you after you play a round of golf with balls that have my name on them, and a statement. They all have "Golf year round in the deep south."

I'll go wait by the mail box. Since you're from the Deep South....I'll bet who ever did the logo work on your ProVs had to use SpellCheck. I can see your ProV's now....."FergdArBst Glof yeer rund in the deap Soth"

I've got a logo on a few of mine too. It reads, "If you found this...Yours is lost too!" I was considering putting my name on my golf balls too, but then I realized that half the guys in my county would be playing with the ones I lost!

I play ProV1s. I like them. I've tried the Xs a few times. I think I'd like those just about the same. My buddy says he prefers the Xs because he feels the 1s are a bit too soft coming off the clubface. He has a point I suppose, but I don't have as much playing experience with the Xs as he does. The 1s serve me just fine. I give the 1s a 5.
