What an awesome ball! I have definately gained distance over the Pro V1 like Nike claims(which I found a bit suprising). The spin and feel around the greens is great considering the ball travels so far off the tee with little spin. It feels great off the irons, it doesn't have the click like the Pro V1X but sort of feels like a HX Tour. Overall, this ball is like a cross between the Pro V1 and the Pro V1X - the best of both worlds .
For all the Nike One Black users, what ball did you use before? The Pro V1 or the Pro V1x? I'm looking to try out a box of these. I use the Pro V1 because I don't think I have the swing speed to get the full benefits of the Pro V1x and am wondering if it will be the same with the One Black. I did hear these balls were really durable, though.
Victory, I used a Pro V1 before this ball because I liked the spin for the hard greens at my home course. The ONE Black gives me the same spin as the Pro V1 but goes farther than the Pro V1X - good deal if you ask me. I have used this ball for all 18 holes multiple times this year so yes it is very durable.
Well, looks like the next box of balls I buy will be the One Black. I was debating between this and the HX Tour but I've heard a lot of complaints about its durability. I've also heard a lot of great things about the One Black and have been curious ever since.
The Nike One Black is the best ball I've ever played. It has a lot of distance like the Pro V1x but the spin and feel is where it differs. It doesn't give me the same spin as the Pro V1 but I spin that ball a little too much. If you're in the market for $40/dozen premium balls, I would make this choice over the Pro V1 series and the Callaway HX Tour. They are both great balls themselves but the One Black is in a class of its own. The durability is much better.
Now, seeing how Im a high handicapper, I dont hit it straight or accurate 100% of the time. But the other day, I found one on the course and decided to play it. The next hole, which happened to be a about a 127rd par 3, I hit it to within 4ft of the pin. I thought it was just luck because I usually hit it on or near the green, but not always near the pin. But on the next hole, a 400 something yrd par 4, I managed to hit it straight on all of my shots, and eventually made par. But, my luck turned to the worst later on, when I hit it short into a nice big lake.
Just a newbie question I suppose. I really have never spent a lot of money on balls, but as I progressively become more and more joyed about my Nike equipment, I will soon purchase a set of these Nike One's. Looking for a good deal on ebay first though :)
Anyways, I hit an average of a 245-255yrd drive utilizing an off the shelf Titech Beta Ti ball from wal-mart (I know, laugh now ). On average, what is the extra yardage you are seeing from the Nike One? 20+ yards off the tee? Less or more?
I love this ball. The nike one black and the pro v1x are the only 2 balls in my bag. I use the black in colder weather and the prov1x in warmer weather. I love them both. And the ta2's dont compare at all IMO
Good Ball, played it in two rounds, great off the tee and in my opinion my spin on the green than i desired. I was impressed off the tee, though. Wow! but at the greens I may have been a bit more aggressive b/c of the spin factor.
I received a dozen Nike One Black balls for Christmas and got to play with it for the first time today. The durability of this ball is amazing. One of my gripes with the Pro V1 is that on full wedges, it will scuff easily. The Nike One Black can last a full 18 holes and more.
I hate to judge a ball from a day in which I played extremely poorly and when my back was tightening up (I was in a car accident about a month ago). Here are my initial impressions anyway. I didn't find the distance really spectacular. I only played the course I played on today twice so I can't judge against other balls. The spin was solid. It didn't spin as much as the Pro V1 but it was adequate for me. Maybe it's because the greens were extremely fast today. I had a 15 foot putt roll 30 feet past the hole and off the green.
I'm going to hold off on rating this ball until I get to play it at a course I'm familiar with. Then I'll be able to guage distance a little better. The spin will also be easier to compare on greens I'm familiar with, too. All in all, I found this ball unspectacular but today's round would have probably been my worst of 2004 so I'll wait until I pass judgement on it.
For the person who wanted to know more about the TA2 LNG, I tried that ball and liked it a lot. Right now, I'd say I like that ball better than the One but the day I played that ball, I was striking the ball beautifully.
