I got 2-ball trial pack from Callaway. I like their clubs but not their balls.
They seemed heavy and the dimples are hexagon shaped. I don't mind circles of various sizes but I don't like the hexagons. I would play the Callaway over anything Top Flight. Those things are range balls.
Great ball but as usual it just doesn't hold up over time. I prefer to play the BB blue although I have played the red and the blue seems to play better.
I have played the blue for a few rounds to test it out and liked the performance. However, the cover is not very durable. I'd like yo think the ball on Callaway's second tier would hold up better and leave the shredded covers to the HX Tour. I was expecting the cover to hold up similar to the NXT/Tour.
I've played both the blue and the red, didn't like either. They get scuffed up very easily and the feel isn't that great. There's no difference between the red and pinnacle.
big berthas=terrible, first bad ball that callaway made IMO. i was looking for balls at my local driving range and saw these and knew that i had always loved callaway products...not these big berthas, just awful again thats IMO
I haven't noticed any distance difference in BB Red and BB Blue, although I do think the Blue has more a little more spin on approach shots as advertised.
I got a gift pack of BB Red and Blue at XMas and noticed they were longer and straighter off the tee than any of the Titleist and Top Flite balls I had tried before.
For the money I prefer these to the 2nd tier Titleist balls, like DT SoLo and NXT Tour. The feel is more to my liking at impact off the tee and I think they tend to go straighter, which is great since when all is well and I have drawspin going I am sort of prone to it morphing into a hook some of the time.
Try the HX Hots if you want a "harder" cover. I like blues for Par 3's only. I've moved to the HX Tours because I seem to "tear" the ball apart a lot now.
The ball get damaged really easily to say the least but i quite enjoyed playing with them, my brother bought some, as people have said i dont like the hexagonal, dimples i prefer circular ones. But yes i would use them over top flight any day
Re: Callaway Big Bertha Red & Blue Golf Ball Review
I actually like them. They are an ok ball IMO. They don't spin as much for me as an hex 56, they just stick. Which is good in some places. I would compare this ball to the Titleist Dt/So Lo
