Callaway HX Red & Blue Golf Ball Review

My uncle picked up a dozen and gave me a sleeve, wow was i ever impressed.
I play hogan CFT irons with deep DEEP grooves and this balls holds up very nicely. I played the same ball for 2 rounds and its still in decent shape. It is soft and putts very well. I like this ball an awful lot and i will play this for a few more weeks and tell you if i still like it this much. I have no idea what they cost but im sure its less than a ProV1...HX red is nice ball good distance soft feel, DURABLE(which is why i like it so much!!!

I have played the HX Blue but shredded the cover with my new gap wedge. Loved the feel and performance.

Good balls, you stil can't get the tour down my end of the world yet. I prefer the Red as the blue lasts about two holes and it feels sort of heavy off the driver as well

I have played these and really liked them. I heard they were addressing the cover durability issue.

Started playing the HX Red to offset the cost of the Nike Black's. I have to say now, that I may very well not return to the Blacks. The HX Red is so responsive off the tee, with a great deal of reaction around the green, a type of reaction I never saw or perhaps felt with the Black. Maybe my swingspeed with my wedges was not high enough for the Blacks. I can have the reds stop on a dime, or come back 5ft if need be. Great confidence booster.

Also the only difference I have noticed so far is that the 2004 model HX Red is a 2 peice ball, while the 2005 model HX Red is a 3 peice ball.

Yeah - you should probably make sure you get the 3 piece models... Callaway's have the "big bertha" balls that are 2 piece.

I've found that they are not the most durable ball. They scuff up kind of the same way pro v1's do...

HX Reds are fantastic balls. Whats more I got 2 dozen of them for £36 ($50 ish) from my local pro. Long soft and surprisingly resilient.

I love the Red. I recently switched, always being a loyal Titleist customer, to the Red because i loved the distance of the ball with the control around the greens. Before I was always skeptical about Callaway products, but this ball along with the tour have changed my mind. Great ball.
