Used the Callaway HX Hot Yesterday(Free 2 ball sleeve from Dicks) and Got my first Hole in one on The 4th Hole. I have no choice but to like the ball so far..............Feels real good off the driver too!
This ball plays well around the greens from 50 yrds and beyond. I holed a nice pitch shot on a downhill slope that went from right to left and as the ball was in flight I could see the necessary spin and stuck it right on the sweet spot to hole it for bird. We all know how good that feels when you stick a nice wedge shot.
I played the HX hot today and found my new ball. I have been playing the PRO-V1X and really like it but discovered I prefer the Hot. Long, and while, not as soft as the pro v, it still stops. With putting, I actually prefer the HX because it can feel it off the putter face and it clicks nice. Very durable, 18 holes with it and looks great- my vokey usually chews up other balls. Price is right too.
Pig in a poke is a phrase used to describe buying something without having any idea what you are buying. As the story goes, a man buys a pig in a sack without looking in the sack- he just pokes the bag to make sure it is a pig.
Actually I was referring to Homer Simpsons picture. That exact scene was in an episode where Homer became a bodyguard for Mayor Quimby. As usual Homer got carried away with his new "career" and was practicing code talk around the house one morning. When Marge walked into the kitchen, Homer spoke into his headpiece "The pig is in the poke" - needless to say Marge didn't like Homers code word for her. That picture is the exact moment where he said that line. But I now that I know where it comes from ... I guess in a way it could apply to a golf ball, but I love the HX hot. I've been testing golf balls rigorously the past month and after comparing it to the Mojo, Precept Pwrdrive, Dunlop Moebius, Pinnacle Exception, Titleist DT Solo, Nxt Tour, and Maxfli Rev. NXT - This ball is my new ball this summer! If I used "The pig is in the poke" referring to a balls quality - it would have to be the "Pro" V1. I can't tell you how many morons I see playing this overpriced and dated ball. This ball is meant for good players - not weekend warriors. Just because pros love it - it dosen't mean Joe Duffer is going to take advantage of its characteristics. Save your money and spend more time on the range.
I bought a sleeve of these about a week ago, and I had originally been using the Red and Blue's but it was always good to give somethign new a try. I dunno if it was just my bad day, but some greens they failed to really bite on the short stuff. Other than that, a great ball especially off the driver. Will use again...
After playing both Maxfli's Rev Tour and Bridgestone's B330s lately, I am convinced Callaway intentionally makes their covers less durable so you use up balls faster.
The HX Hot has a more durable cover than other Callaway balls, but it's a fragile cover for as hard as the ball feels.
I don't think I have played one for more than 6 holes before it starts to look pretty beat.
Odd, you must be doing something wrong. I've been playing the same HX Hot ball for about 3 weeks... the cover isnt shot at all. I play everyday too. Now, HX Tour, I'll agree with you there.
I found the HX HOT to be too hard(not unlike most Top Flites). It feels like a rock coming off the club. However, i'm used to playing the Black HX tour which is extremely soft - more so than the tit. pro v. I couldn't get any feel around the green.
Played a round on Friday with an HX Hot I found on the course and loved it! Good distance, good spin and soft feeling. And surprise, surprise I got a dz. for Xmas. the buddy who bought them for me said he got them at Target for around $22.00.
I bought a doz of these from Wal-Mart of all places and have really liked them so far. I have found that they have good distance but don't get alot of spin. However I think I am going to stick with them.
